Overall it was a very nice meal, a little warm in late June near the kitchen but tasty and good, highly recommend.

We were lucky to get two seats at the bar on a Tuesday night when the restaurant was booked until 10:30. Great food! I had the turbot in broth and my husband had the pig - wonderful flavor and fresh ingredients. Although it's a block from the old port it is very quiet and out of the way of tourists.... More

Delicious and very original. The setting is beautiful. Make a reservation as it is often booked days in advance. Enjoy !!!

The location and ambience are good but the food is average very small portions and not a big variety in the menu , I was a bit disappointed if not for the wine and dessert , nothing vegetarian in the menu no meat either, small portions and different taste than usual !

We had one of the best meals in memory at Le 400 Coups. Smoked yellow sturgeon sausage to start - many subtle great tastes. We had rabbit and duck for mains. Both were outstanding with complex, tasty accompaniments. A rhubarb sorbet with many other great little tastes finished the meal. The service was attentive and helpful when needed - a... More

We went last week with old friends. Busy place with elegant people. The chef uses mostly local products and makes reference to the growers on the menu. I started with a very good veal tartare. I selected the loin of rabbit slowly poached, wrapped with green cabbage. Very good and perfectly cooked vegetables. One of my friends selected a sausage... More

We sincerely enjoyed our dinner at Les 400 Coups. For appetizers we chose the cold carrot soup with snow crab and the Mr. Legault with cucumber, lavender and goat cheese - both of which were aesthetically beautiful and tasty. My arctic char entree was unbelievable and we also had the rabbit - finishing with a caramel cremeux and a coffee... More

The local fresh creative dishes are presented beautifully. Our waiter was very professional, but service was relaxed. This was the only restaurant where the feasting began reading the menu, continued via the eyes and then the palate. We had not seen plates presented this well since French Laundry. A memorable experience.

A modern setting and friendly staff, serving a fixed 2 or 3 course lunch, with 3 options to choose from for starter, main course and desert. We choose the cherry tomatoes for starter and it was absolutely delicious. The turbot as main course was very nice too, albeit slightly overcooked. No desert taken, but the capuccino was great. Decent wine... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
