Great place for drinks, not su much to eat

Ok place to have a meal but this would not be my number 1 choice for sure. It is however well located + has an impressive cocktail list. Nice ambiance to have either a pre or post drink.

We had dinner here and found the food to be ok; however the service was somewhat slow and disorganized. We recommend the vegetarian poutine which was quite a treat and very tasty. We also had the bison burger which I would pass up on any future visits as some of the other fare looked more appetizing. Overall this French pub... More

I reserve at this restaurant for a birthday dinner. We arrived on time and were seated at the back of the restaurant. The lighting was do dim we had to use our cellphones to read the menu. I ordered a candied smoked salmon and my friend onion soup as appetizers. We had to ask for some bread since we saw... More

Great service, a bit too "frenchy" (rapid, aggressive) but quite efficient. The decor is really interesting, a trendy darky kind of setting. Tables and chairs a bit old, but most importandly, the food is really good. Great choices of cocktails. Much focus on local foods, which is great.

Service: mediocre to very bad, Food: quite bland, decor OK, music OK, dance OK Service was very very very slow. The appetizers came quite rapidly. The main course was another story, at our table 2 people got their plate 1 hour after the appetizer, another 10 minutes and 2 more people got theirs, after another 35 minutes of waiting we... More

Well, it is rather noisy, but I think that's OK for a pub. Atmosphere is cosy and the food (I only had a small snack and a beer) is good. My problem on a rather cold winter night was it was just too cold inside - I would have needed to keep the down jacket onto feel comfortable. And it... More

The drinks were really great, the service was average to good, and they had bottles of almost everything you could imagine. With the Cuban music and dancing, it's the best place to park yourself on a Sunday night in Old Montreal. I'll return the next time I'm in town to see what other surprises are hiding there.

Stopped by L'Assomoir on Notre Dame recently. we had been here before but during the day. At night time on a Saturday it is completely different. It was extremely loud but that was to be expected. We had a few drinks which were well prepared and made to our liking. I remembered the food I have had in the past... More

Great onion rings. The $1 mussels were the size of a quarter. Bison Burger was tiny, and flavorless. For the price you should expect more. Nice beer selection.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
