Went here before a show at Place des Arts because it is right next door. Service (at the bar) was excellent - attentive and fast. We ordered a burger and salmon tartare and both were sadly mediocre compare to meals that we have had there on other occasions. Burger was overcooked and tartare pretty tasteless. There used to be amazing... More

Interesting formula linked to Ferreira restaurant which would be more expensive. It is located on a pedestrian square in kind of open container with also seating in open air on terrace. Menu is printed for each on paper and you tick what you want, menu is available with starter, main and side dish for 21 cad. Service was good, place... More

I remember really liking the ambiance here last year (2013) during the Jazz Festival. However, the place underwent an unneeded renovation. Difficult to see any improvement this year over last. Plus they changed the menu NOT for the better. It has an excellent location, being in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. They changed to a tapas style menu... More

Walked in without reservations, had to sit at the bar, but that turned out great. The bartender made us great martini', we liked the menu choices so we ordered a few tapas which we really enjoyed. Nice ambiance with friendly staff. Would definitely go back

Overall slightly above average and a bit slow service, the food is decent, but I'd say not on par with the price you pay. So what are the bright sides? I would call out two things: the concept of a bar standing "right on the trottoir" in a very central location makes up for an unusual and often entertaining experience.... More

This review will not discuss food as in the end we did not eat there. On a Saturday we came to the restaurant without having a reservation we were told there was not any room. However there might be a wait of 45 mins. Another couple came in behind us (also no reseveration) same answer we (both couples) even asked... More

Although we knew the restaurant to be a bistro, we were expecting a quality experience based on the owner's other restaurant, the Ferreira Cafe. We were a group of ten at the table. The service was long and it seemed that the restaurant was ill prepared to accomodate a group of 10 clients. We returned two steaks, which were overcooked.... More

Made a reservation a week ago. When we arrived they could not find my reservation. They gave us a table. My spouse had cod fritters which were excellent. For an entre, we both had shrimp risotto. It was delicious. In our 3 days in Montreal, F Bar served the most creative food. Presented well and tasted wonderful. Service was terrific.... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
