After reading all the rave reviews, this restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. We decided on the octopus salad which was slightly better than average. Not at all like the real thing in Mexico or the Pacific Northwest where freshness counts. Our choices for mains were braised rabbit and seafood risotto. Not much on the plates on these two,... More

The Quattro Restaurant that I like is just of the Pix ix Blvd. We went to this place several times usually for a feast of some sort. Birthday or Anniversary .They have the most delicious homemade Octopus salad. everyone enjoys it and we have to order always a second dish. This place is very pleasant and clean. One can also... Come to this place for a great family restaurant that greets visitors well. Francesco was there when I ate at the restaurant and took care of us, and everyone else in the restaurant. His assistants were all very nice and recommended great food. Try the Linguini allo Scoglio, awesome!

Being so close to the touristy area, I wasn't expecting too much from this place but it got good reviews. Average plate is $25-35, but they do have a dinner menu that includes coffee/tea and soup or salad. Everything we ate appeared to be made fresh to order, simple ingredients, huge flavor. Even the free bruschetta sample they brought to... More

Our host Vince started the night off perfectly with happy banter which was a taste of what was to come! Great wine, the best food we ate in any Canadian restaurant, great service and great surroundings. Located in the Old Port district the restaurant has great ambience. The buffalo mozzarella was the best we have eaten anywhere in the world.... More

Good place for italian meal in Montreal, very good food and nice staff, real italian. So if you plan to go to the old part of the city, this is ideal for a comfortable and nice lunch. Good italian wines, and friendly people.

I had the soup of the day and the spaghetti primavera and was not disappointed. The pasta was fresh. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the light sauce was very flavourful.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
