We went to Quartier General last night (Saturday) for the first time and we were very impressed by the food, the service and the ambiance. They are saying this restaurant is a bistro style restaurant but for me, the food served in this restaurant is a few notches over this. We were a party of 5 and "everybody" was impressed... More

Restaurant specialties are wild meat. Duck, rabbit, deer, ... Ambiance is OK, but feel too close to neighbor tables. Decor is so-so. Service was pretty good, and waitress explained in great detail the various items on the menu. However, the deception was the food itself. Deer appetizer tasted nothing, veal main dish was hard and tough to chew. Rabbit was... More

I went for lunch with friends and we were all very impressed. As an appetizer I had the beef tartar which was one of the best I've ever had, then the macreuse braisée which was equally as great and beautifully presented. For prix fixe $20 and BYOW you can't go wrong, I can't wait to go back for dinner!

I can't say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. I arrived late in Montreal, bottle of wine in hand, and my friend had managed to get us a last minute reservation here on a Sunday night. We were seated and greeted by a lovely, smart server who took us through the menu (also written on a long... More

The menu is based from locally sourced products and for a very reasonable price, you can pick the 4 servings choice. If you read others' comments on QG, they will mention the additional $ 12 on your main dish which is worth every penny when you consider that for $ 12 , you have a choice of soup or salad,... More

We found this restaurant after searching for a place to enjoy our really nice bottle of wine. Although it was a metro trip and about a 10 minute walk from our hotel in downtown Montreal, it was well worth it! The extra $12 is worth every penny for adding on an appetizer and dessert to the cost of the entree.... More

This is definitely the restaurant I will remember when I think of Montreal. A neighborhood gem, that deserves to be a gem of Montreal. It's all about the food and there are roughly six choices of appetizers and six mains. Not including soup & salad of the day, nor four dessert options. The seared duck foie gras on a beignet... More

Good ambience. Good service although I felt a little like an Ugly American in Paris. Nice selection on the menu. Food was good, but the quality of the cooking did not justify the price. It was a Monday so perhaps the "real" chef was not there.

Decided to try this restaurant as it was suggested by a couple from Montreal that we had met in the Caribbean. There seems to be a trend in Montreal to allow patrons to bring in their own wine and the chef concentrates on his food. At this restaurant the menu is on a blackboard and your server comes to you... Le Quartier General is great, serves fantastic food, and has excellent (bilingual) service. This is a bring-your-own-wine place, which makes it considerably more affordable. In fact, I would recommend bringing a bottle each (trust me, Montreal will not pass judgement on you). If you forgot about the wine, there are several SAQ liquor stores around where you will find a... More
