Good place for a quiet coffee amid the hustle and bustle of Old Montreal, right on Notre Dame. Very good choice of coffees and patisseries as befits the home of the croissant. Serving staff coping with many orders at a time but getting it all right. Cashier an oasis of calm amidst it all. Suitably bilingual service.

We stopped in for a coffee and also got an apple pastry. All delicious and fresh. We were lucky enough to get a table. Then the place filled up with locals and we felt right at home. I'm glad we happened upon it. Also, the wifi was fast and free. A real bonus!

This family-run Cafe roasts its signature blend of a creamy, aromatic, strong espresso. Owner and sons are very friendly! The also offer paninis with soup or salada for a quick meal.

We have visited this cafe multiple times during our visit to Montreal. Both the coffee and Hot chocolate are excellent. The staff are extreme friendly and the owner is always keen to help you with your visit. The food is also too notch. Good Wifi and always some hockey news on in the background. Throughly recommend!

Visiting from Long Island, New York for a week, we found this place after touring Notre Dame. Great place for sandwiches, coffee and most of all their breakfast options. I'm a big eater in the morning so I tried their Panini DeJeuner Supreme (2 eggs, bacon, ham, tomato, lettuce and mayo on a generous Panini loaf), this thing was equivalent... More

Found Espace Cafe by accident, had time to kill before an appointment, loved the atmoshpere, friendly staff and the cafe mocha was the best I've ever had. Will be back for breakfast, their sandwiches looked amazing!!

While visiting Montreal, hubby and I found Espace Cafe to be one of the greatest breakfast spots ever. We made it our breakfast joint! The coffee was superb, our meals were outstanding and the team there was welcoming. A must when you are visiting the historic Montreal .

I had the good fortune of spending some time studying at this cafe and man was I blown away by how good the coffee was. I had a Cappuccino, followed by a freddo, which is a type of iced espresso. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. Their sandwiches, although I didn't get around to having one,... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
