Wanted a quick bite for breakfast without eating a ton. Perfect for coffee, egg croissant with ham, yogurt. Very friendly staff & owner. Eat quick, save money & calories & run off to see the Old City sites.

They have whole milk here - I was a bit annoyed at most every coffee shop having only 2%. Also, they have good drip coffee here - not just Coffee Americano like many others. The location just down the street from Notre Dame Cathedral has a very friendly man running the shop.

John gave us an expert espresso and explanation of the difference between long and short draws. Super friendly place and willing to go the extra mile (kilometer?) for their customers.

Good place for a quiet coffee amid the hustle and bustle of Old Montreal, right on Notre Dame. Very good choice of coffees and patisseries as befits the home of the croissant. Serving staff coping with many orders at a time but getting it all right. Cashier an oasis of calm amidst it all. Suitably bilingual service.

We stopped in for a coffee and also got an apple pastry. All delicious and fresh. We were lucky enough to get a table. Then the place filled up with locals and we felt right at home. I'm glad we happened upon it. Also, the wifi was fast and free. A real bonus!

This family-run Cafe roasts its signature blend of a creamy, aromatic, strong espresso. Owner and sons are very friendly! The also offer paninis with soup or salada for a quick meal.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
