More than a restaurant, we're an institution. Quality cuts, cooked to perfection for over three decades. All our beef is AAA Canadian Certified and aged for at least 30 days. You'll love the classic atmosphere, warm and welcoming. We're situated directly on St. Paul Street in a beautiful, century-old structure. Inside, you're greeted by old stone walls, wood floors, cozy fireplaces and an attentive staff. With a capacity of up to 1 000 and one of the nicest terraces in Old Montreal, we're the ideal venue for groups, weddings and other social gatherings.

The steak here was awesome and the service very attentive. We were a large group of 30 and we were welcomed and seated quickly though the restaurant was packed.

My boyfriend took me here for my 40th birthday dinner (May 30th-we didn't tell staff as I don't like the whole birthday singing thing). I had the 16oz prime rib and added the extra side of grilled shrimp and my boyfriend tried the bison steak on the recommendation of Anna. We were both very satisfied with our choices and my... More

This steakhouse is located in old Montreal. There is a very nice patio to enjoy dining al fresco. The service can seem rushed so as to turn over tables quickly. Our server, from the Bordeaux region of France understood that we were there for a relaxed supper and did a very professional job at making our experience a pleasant one.... More

Eat on the terrasse around the corner from the main entrance. It's a beautiful area, lots of tables, lots of pretty foliage, very comfortable. It's has two huge awnings to sheild diners from sun and inclement weather. If you order before 6:00pm or after 9:30pm they offer a $23 Prix fixe dinner which includes a choice of soup, salad or... This was my third (or fourth) returning here. Came this time in particular to sit on their backyard terrace for lunch. They offer a good pre fixe menu before 6pm (includes lunch time). Service was excellent, as was the food and the setting -- their patio is nicely tucked away from the crowds in Old Montreal.

We were looking for a good steakhouse in Montreal that wasn't a chain (ie The Keg) and decided to try this restaurant. The waiter was rude and the food wasn't anything spectacular. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium but it was well done and slightly burnt. We also found it be very expensive...even more then what we... More

Great place for an old port evening dinner. Known for its steaks but excellent selection of other offerings, equally good. Good selection of apps, soups, calamari, oysters Steaks were cooked just right, nice cuts Atmosphere was nice, although this is an old building, the interior is amazing, two floors, and an outside terrasse, if the weather is nice, I SUGGEST... Reserved seating for two on a Saturday. Restaurant is in the heart of the old port of Montreal. Great location where you can have dinner and glance over as crowds of people walk. Although we were seated very close to others, the service was very great. Between the two of us, we had a Cesar salad to start and The... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
