More than a restaurant, we're an institution. Quality cuts, cooked to perfection for over three decades. All our beef is AAA Canadian Certified and aged for at least 30 days. You'll love the classic atmosphere, warm and welcoming. We're situated directly on St. Paul Street in a beautiful, century-old structure. Inside, you're greeted by old stone walls, wood floors, cozy fireplaces and an attentive staff. We dropped in on the first busy Saturday night of the season and requested a table for nine. They delivered. We sat on the patio and Michael our server took great care of us. The restaurant was packed. Our food took sometime to make it to our table, as I think the kitchen was a little overwhelmed. They made sure... More

This place was a little bit of a let down. The staff was very nice. The ambiance was very nice. The wait for our meal was ridiculous. We ordered 2 Kir Royals. I don't know what kind of champagne they used but the came to $50! I've traveled a lot and never paid that much for a drink. The flavor... More

A good selection on their weekday lunch menu. Not at all expensive for what you get: Soup or salad, main course, dessert and tea or coffee. The terrase is located in the back of the restaurant, away from the crowds walking by. Some of the restaurants have their terrases are on the outside sidewalk and is not pleasant if you... More

Were walking around looking for a place to have dinner, when we stumbled upon the terrace for this restaurant. So glad we did! The steak was divine, the wine was sublime and our server Anna was just as friendly as she could be! I was so glad to have found this place! She wonderfully accommodated my 3 year old and... More

We initially got seated in the worst seat on the patio. They moved us no problem. Our server was great, informative and friendly. We ordered the lobster bisque to start and steaks. Lobster bisque was delicious. Unfortunately, my husband's steak came out ice cold. When we complained the server took it away immediately - which was great. Unfortunately, we think... More

Went to the Vieux Pont Steakhouse on. Wednesday evening. We were very happy with both the service and meal. The rib eye steak was to die for; both my husband and I had steaks and enjoyed them thoroughly. I wasn't too keen on the baked potato. The taste was good but it was served cold and I would have preferred... More

Went with a group from work. The waiter was very accommodating but we did have a few issues with the food. A loaded baked potato that was cold. was sent back and it seems they heated the potato again including the sour cream and fixings. It was a little expensive in my opinion.

Vieux-Port Steakhouse is in a beautiful corner location in Old Montreal with plate glass windows that overlook the city streets. We had impeccable service - very attentive and helpful. We had a delicious Malbec and salads to start. But the crowning glory was the 16 oz. bone-in bison rib steak with mushroom sauce. It was a gorgeous piece of meat... More

We are regulars at Vieux Port restaurant. My husband, who is not a fish lover abslutely adores the Miso Black Cod. I always ordeer it and after having him taste mine, he is hooked. We usually go there once a week and have not been disappointed one. We especially love the summer months when we are able to enjoy the... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
