Great for drinks, OK for bruch

Have been here for drinks with friends and the place is fun, live music and great ambiance. Went here last weekend for brunch and I did not like it as much as for drinks. The food is really great and the home made jam is too die for, but it's too loud for the morning.

As a british family living in Montreal we were hankering after a traditional pub and this was the closest thing to it. The pub itself is fine - more of a restaurant than a real pub and whilst the food was good...the beer somewhat disappointing. Very few good draft bitters on tap...Bass, Newcastle Brown and Murphys...but that's about it. Would... More

We went to the Burgundy Lion to have breakfast (birthday celebration). It was very different from your typical breakfast. With the exception of the fried bread (too oily) everything I have tried was different and delicious (the bacon and crumpet were delightful). Great mimosas as well. The breakfast was also very affordable. I can't wait to go back.

Visited the Burgundy Lion as a stopping off point on the way into the city. Very convenient for the bus/ metro station at Lionel Groulx. Good range of beer and decent service. Prominent screens which mean this is a great place for any sports fan!

We were a group of 20 or so, and the BL were very accommodating in cordoning off a section for our group. Service was excellent, and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the burger - excellent. I held extensive consultations with my brother and brother-in-law with respect to the staff uniform worn by the women servers, which was a very... More

Burgundy Lion is a great place to go. British style pub with good atmosphere and friendly service. Wide selection of beer and the food is quite good as well. Located on a quaint street, beside the Corona Theatre with trendy shops and cafes near by.

We stopped in for a few pints before dinner across the street. The place was packed with both diners and drinkers, which made for a fun, lively atmosphere. We grabbed seats at the bar and had a great time talking to the super friendly bartender and learning about some of their incredible scotch collection.

This is my 2nd time at this restaurant but first for breakfast. This place is English style pub with everything from kidney pie to blood pudding and i must say it has been excellent both times. I recommend the fish and chips which i have tried and for breakfast the blood pudding or English style pancakes which were both excellent.... More

The five of us went for lunch and they had a nice large table for us. The service was very good, given that it was lunch-time and the place was rather full. We had fish and chips (my colleague loved it! crispy and fresh), 3 others had the burger (which in today's market is big, full and tasty from what... More

The food was average, English pub eats although the portions were larger than expected. The prices were reasonable but the service was horrible as the servers were rushing us out so that they could have the table even though the four of us had drinks, apps, dinner then more drinks. They rushed us our checks wtihout asking if we wanted... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
