Nice atmosphere terrible service

This used to be my favourite local place for brunch, but after the past few times going, service just seemed to have been getting worse and worse. The last time I went, I waited 45 minutes to get served the wrong latte (it was my friend's latte which she ordered 10 minutes after me because she... read more

We went here for brunch with our daughters and my parents on Father's Day. We had a reservation. My dad ordered the crab cake, but at 11am there was already none left. It took ONE HOUR from the moment when we were seated at our table until the food arrived. No apology. The very arrogant waitress simply ignored us the... More

I used to love this place and went there as often as possible, but lately it has been very disappointing how much the quality has drop down. The place is nice and casual, the service has been always very good but the food which was very nice its not good enough.

Food was great, jazz trio was interesting without being overwhelming. You can actually enjoy a nice meal (the ceviche was great) and have a conversation without missing every third word. Hope the place survives Notre-Dame Street repairs.

I have been to Griffintown twice. The food I enjoyed. It was tasty but portions were small. I left the restaurant hungry after paying almost $30 for brunch. The big problem there: the waitresses. They are rude and arrogant. They purposely forgot our orders and kept bumping into my baby's highchair, without apologizing. We received our coffees (simple coffees) after... More

Went looking for somewhere to have lunch on New Years Day…and happened upon Griffentown cafe… it was an all brunch menu and very interesting… I had a Mexican style dish, which came as poached eggs on top of tortillas with lots of vegetables/avocado…great flavour and good for lunch or breakfast. Cafe Late was great too. Decor is charming- older building,... More

I've always liked the Griffintown Café, but the new mural (ugly and uninspiring) facing, yep, a TV screen, squeezes the customers like a vice and ruins the atmosphere. Plus, wait-staff spend their time gawping at the screen and fiddling with the adjustments. The atmosphere is ruined. The fun is gone, except, maybe, on jazz nights. Let's hope the idiot-tube is... We just went to Griffintown on our last night in Montreal & we had a fantastic time! This is just a comfortable, low key, ZERO pretension spot with really really good food, great service...it's just plain FUN. We both had a cocktail to start (i had a cosmo & my hubs had an old fashioned) and they were beautifully made.... More

We only went here because it was within walking distance of our condo and was listed as a good place for happy hour. They don't have happy hour. At all! So we pondered the menu, but really didn't see anything that appealed to us so we just had a cocktail. No complaints there and our server was very friendly and... More

The food was fine, but the cocktails were excellent and the atmosphere was good. Overall nothing to write home about, but decent. Nice live music when we were there. Professional service.

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
