The restaurant is everything that the compliments given are. We pulled up one evening when it was snowing heavily and the temperature had plummeted to 9F. But we were warmed up immediately by the bubbly owner and hostess Mme Catherine who made us feel as if we were in her own home. This warmed our souls given that we were... More

The ambience is warm and welcoming which was much appreciated on a freezing Montreal evening in February . The owners hail from Nantes and everything including the mayonnaise except the bread is home made. The mushroom soup was delicious as was the escargots. My steak was perfectly cooked medium rare as ordered and the vinaigrette which accompanied the salad for... More

We enjoyed classic French bistro fare here: steak tartare, French onion soup, brandade......Service was courteous and helpful. The restaurant is small, and dishes can be seen as they are prepared in the kitchen tucked into a corner of the brick clad room. If you are looking for a genuine French bistro experience, you can do no better.

If you find yourself in Montreal and need a great place to eat, go to Duo D. The food is definitely the star at this bistro. The menu is limited which is a good thing. Everything is done very well. Not only is the food excellent, the friendly service is warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place!

This was probably the best meal and experience I have ever had. The food was beautiful, opinionated and with great flavours. I felt like I was eating at a Parisien Michelin Star Restaurant. Well done Philippe and Catherine!! All I can say is that dining here will change your life forever....

I love this place. The staff is really nice and welcoming and the food is amazing. I had the tartar and my wife had the duck confit and we barely spoke the whole because we both enjoyed our meal so much. Thank you Duod, we'll be back with some friends very soon!!

Ate dinner this past Saturday and was underwhelmed. I was excited based on many of the generous reviews but in the end I think it's fair to say that Duo D is pretty average. 1. Very poor cocktails. ( made by waitress, no bartender on site ) 2. Limited menu made up of uninspiring foods. 3. Only one waitress for... More

Hello nicholas. I always remenber my customers because we have a small intimed restaurant and no staff. You can read review about that on tripadvisor. So i remember you and the nice person with you. We were on quiet and cold month so not very busy. You are right. I don't have bartender and you refused your vodka soda because... More

I stopped in here for dinner on business and really enjoyed it. Arriving around 6:30, we were the only people in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes or so, but then the small restaurant filled up pretty quickly. The food was excellent. The service was great. I rarely go for French cuisine, but between the duck, lamb, and beef... More

Some of the best, high quality food, that we've ever had. Excellent flavor combinations, superbly fresh ingredients, and a great atmosphere. Be prepared to pay for it though. This is not a nice evening out dinner, this is a once-a-year-for-anniversary night, and expect to spend. The plates are also very small, so even with the savory delight that each one... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
