Toroli is a very unique little restaurant on a quiet, residential street, a short walk from the Mont-Royal Metro station. The restaurant has only 4-5 tables and it feels like you have been invited to someone's house and are sitting in their kitchen. We had the best of the few tables, right next to a window, which had been completely... More

The Chef of Toroli uses local products, in the spirit of Japanese cuisine to create something new, with the finest Saké to go with this meal, and attended by a superb waiting. For us (Japanese foodlovers) a totally new experience... Incroyable mais vrai!

This is a nice small restaurant with delicious fusion of japanese & french food. Our appetizers are perfect but when it comes to main course I will like to rate them above the average. Overall it was a very good experience.

Wonderful, imaginative and fabulous food. Service is delightful, thoughtful, attentive and cheerful. We we went for a birthday celebration and the chef surprised us with a very thoughtful, delicious dessert. We loved everything about this little jewel.

Nice small restaurant, friendly service. Appetizers were well thought through, nicely prepared, and of excellent quality. However the main courses were surprisingly bland. The fish and meat were rather well cooked and of average quality, and some of the side dishes were bland European or American-style - not the sort of fusion we were looking for. Nice black sesame ice... More

My wife and I were looking for something different and I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. When you get to the restaurant there's a black and white outside painting reminding me of a cow almost like this used to be a ice-cream store. When you walk in, its if you've walked into someones home. They have 12 seats and... More

This is one of the those reviews that you almost don't want to share as Toroli was such a special experience you want to keep it to yourself. On a side street in Le Plateau, this small (seats 16), unassuming restaurant transports you to another world. We we lucky enough to be there for their 5th anniversary and had their... More

The mix of the different tastes of all the ingredients was excellent. The service also was very good (all dishes were explained by the chef, the waitress was very cheerful). The prices were a little bit high but it's worth it. A very good evening!

This is quite the unassuming restaurant: it seats no more than 20 people, kitchen is the size of a stamp, small menu, one server, one chef. But, WOW! First impressions can be deceiving. The food in this place was sincerely amazing: flavorful, creative, beautiful to look at, difficult to categorize and not at all pretentious. The closest I can come... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
