We arrived at our B&B in Old Montreal around 1600 which didn't give us much time to search the internet for a good restaurant. The restaurants that we heard of are all closed on Mondays so we decided to "wing it" by walking around around and window shop for a good meal. We were instantly attracted to the decor and... More

My first dining experience in Montreal's "Vieux Port" a few years ago, on St-Paul Ouest no less, was very unimpressive. I quickly learned that for every good restaurant in the area, there are several more geared almost exclusively toward tourists, and because these places, by definition, do not really care about repeat customers, their food and service standards are fairly... This small and cozy restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge as "always a good choice." We were not at all disappointed (as some reviewers have been). The appetizers range from the familiar to the unique and daring. My scallop, risotto and foie gras starter was lush and perfectly balanced, my only quibble being that the foie gras itself was... Ok so since I don't speak French and I have never eaten French food I asked our hotel employee guy where to go and he suggested this place. I was a little nervous, but I thought the food was great. My wife likes to order pasta everywhere that she goes and wasn't very happy, but I blame her for that.... More

We live in Montreal and I like to try new places. We ate here in 2010 for the first time with another couple. The ambiance was nice. This is an intimate place with very few tables and an eclectic menu. I tried all kinds of things I'd never had before. But I loved it! In fact, we all had a... More

Barroco is like the kind of restaurant you would like come home to again and again. It is small, cozy, has the feeling of an old tavern with stone walls that date back to the 1700s, wide, dark exposed beams overhead, soft light, and a lively buzz of conversation. The service is wonderful, they are attentive go out of the... More

It was definitely an experience for one's taste buds to dine at Barroco. What was also great was the attentiveness and politeness of the staff. Would love to be back to try some other things on the menu! More

Chimichurri Rib-eye was okay, the flavor was a little lacking. Also it was a small cut for the price. All the seafood dishes were a big hit, and the duck egg entree was really enjoyable and was nearly coated with black truffle shavings. Service very good and a nice cocktail menu also. More

To be honest, this restaurant wasn't our first pick for Dinner but since there was no availability at our favourite places, we decided to try Barroco based on Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The place is small but very cozy with only a few tables. The service was slightly slow but overall great and very attentive. The food... More

We loved this restaurant! The food was incredible! The cocktails were amazing! We received great service too. The dining area is small, but that makes the ambiance more charming. We went on a Wednesday night, and it was packed. We had a cocktail, a glass of wine, an appetizer, main course, and dessert... paid about 95$ per person (tax and... More
