Good location and a nice meal

Devi is located in the heart of the restaurants and bars on Rue Crescent and was, conveniently, serving lunch after 2:30 in the afternoon on a weekend which is when we stumbled into it. They had a lovely vegetarian offering for lunch -- lots of little dishes and dessert for one price. I'm not... read more

Excellent Indian food: papadum, garlic naan (some of the best I've ever had), chana masala, beautifully spiced and tasty. I'd go back for the food in a heartbeat. all dishes were reasonably priced. Vegetarians will thrive here, and vegans will do fine -- there are many choices, and waiters are attentive to them. The service was a little off. I... More

In deciding where to go after a conference and staying at the Sheraton, I consulted Tripadvisor reviews for quite a while. Then frustrated that I couldn't make a choice, I decide just to go out and look for myself in the restaurant area around Crescent Street. It was fun for a change, especially since downtown Montreal was full not only... More

Had dinner at Devi with our two young kids who love Indian food. We had a samosa, garlic naan, rogan josh, chicken curry, mushrooms matar & saffron rice. All the dishes were delicious although the rest of the family thought it was a bit spicy...I thought it was a bit mild myself. Decent flavors though not as flavorful as our... More

Went for coconut/cashew shrimps Nice and creamy with garlic naan. Also had the lamb korma. Great taste and awesome service. Adam was great at explaining the menu and the process. Will definitely revisit. Great food and great service. Adam, thanking you for making this a great evening.

An annual events for the women of the Cinema and Media Studies Conference was held here and it was truly a wonderful experience. The restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful. We had the upstairs room, which is exquisitely beautiful. The seating was comfortable, too. But the food was the star. A fine variety of delicious vegetarian choices for three courses... More

Tikka Masala was what I ordered. It was very different than what I've had in the past. But I liked it. A bit spicier as well. But I liked it. It was a rather chunky tomato masala. The serving sizes are large and could certainly be split by 2 people. I was probably disappointed that rice and naan didn't automatically... More

Forget what you have heard or read, I am an expert on Indian Cuisine and this ranks up there with the Bombay Brasserie in London in my opinion. Great atmosphere, informed and cordial staff, reasonably priced and conveniently located. A great change of pace for your dining.

Indian cuisine is one of my very favorites. I'm a big fan of the flavors and spices and, as a mostly vegetarian-pescatarian diner, I very much appreciate that Indian restaurants don't relegate me to having only one or two options. Thus, I usually try to find good Indian restaurants whenever I travel. After discovering Devi, I know that each time... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
