groovy little place

The waiter was spot-on, washrooms are close. It is a very small place, but they serve breakfast, alcohol and there is a bar. Nice for a quiet lunch, depending how full it is. Great portions.

I ordered a chicken wrap which was served toasted with salad - it was swimming in oil and had so much fatty cheese I couldn't eat it. Usually melted cheese on things is the best bit but this totally overpowered and ruined everything, not to mention the chicken absolutely slathered in mayo. Shame as it's a nice setting, right by... Can highly recommend this place for a warm welcome and good food. Generous portions too. Waitress was knowledgable about the menu and introduced us to poutines! DJ played great mix of music and picked up on what the four of us like. Very relaxed and friendly. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

We got off the Green line metro hungry for lunch. What a wonderful surprise when we found Folies. It is located at 701 Mont-Royal est Montreal. There was a small out door eating area but we chose to eat indoors. Don't let the decor fool you. The service Audreane gave was exceptional. The food was very generous and delicious. Be... More

The place itself is very cool although maybe a little too noisy. Service is OK, has a good variety of beers as well. Food is good.

While i have been living in the US for 20 years but I grew up in Quebec, studied in Montreal and i still consider myself a "local". Where to begin! I really love the location central & easy access. I love the cozyness & freindlyness of the place very charming. Here the focus is "let's have some good food! I... More

Breakfast: Eggs perfection. Bacon killed. Potatoes the tuberous equivalent of refried beans. Service cheerful. I guess that, in the kitchen, they have good days and not so good days. Incidentally, they have interesting microbrewery beers on the menu including 'Shawinigan Handshake'. You have to be at least Canadian and preferably from Quebec to understand this one!

Since Les Follies was close to my apartment rental and since they had outdoor seating, I ate three meals here during my week in Montreal. Each was quite good (salads and sandwich) and reasonably priced, service was very nice and friendly.

Standard brunch fare with a nice setting. They cut a few corners eg ketchup in a sachet and frozen berries in my ice tea. Food is good and filling. Not out of this world, but I do keep going back...

Les Folies .... Always my favovorite when I visit Montreal which is quite often !! Menu is simple and lots to choose from ... crowd is non-pretentious and service is quick given they are busy. Small patio outside as the weather gets warmer and live street music playing around the corner is always charming -

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
