Excellent Game

A very Quebecois menu, with plenty of game of one variety or another (it’s called “the Moose” after all). Sampled were venison tartare (excellent), quail (terrific) and rabbit (also excellent). The place was recommended to us, and it didn’t fail to please. The service was attentive and friendly... read more

This food is good for winter in Montreal. The menu changes daily and is based on what arrives in the kitchen only moments before (although there are some staples). I can't give is 5 stars because my order was typed in incorrectly, so the braised duck my fellow diner and I were to share was mistakenly entered into the system... More

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by business colleagues who live in Montreal. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and laughed when they asked if we had a booking. 30 min later it was packed and realized how silly we were for laughing. The service was nothing short of 5 stars. If I could give it more... More

Located on a quiet street in the Old City you realize as soon as you settle in that this place is fun!!! Server Mylene made our night. She brought the menu alive for us. The decor is rustic Canadian - think moose heads!! The menu is truly fine!! Be brave and try the venison tartar!!! The onion and chicken liver... More

The people at my hotel recommended this restaurant. They've mentioned that it was close and that it was very good. I have to say that the food was just great. We ordered a malbec to go with the Duck along with a salad. The service is super friendly and a very cool atmosphere.

I had dinner with friends while in Montreal at L'Orignal. The restaurant is located in the basement of one of the old limestone buildings and is themed around the hunting and outdoors heritage of Quebec and Canada. The decor is nicely done - there is a large wooden canoe on the wall behind the bar which right away evokes the... More

This restaurant is located on a tiny street in the Old Port. Once the door is opened it is a bit of a surprise to find that it is below street level. However, it is roomy and spacious, with a large bar. It was an organized dinner and the canapes and oysters were not only served by the staff but... More

After reviewing some of the negative feedback, I was reluctant to go there and my boyfriend needed to persuade me to go. How glad he did! It had really nice atmosphere, cozy, rustic but chic. Food was also very rustic but creative and surprising in a wonderful way. I had fall salad which was nothing like ordinary green salad but... More

I was first into the restaurant just after opening but even sitting there on my own it had a great feel to it. It wasn't long before it started to fill up and the atmosphere picked up. Nice music - a great mix. Lighting was subtle & welcoming rather than bright & sterile. As for the food - that was... More

My husband and I passed by this restaurant while walking around earlier in the day and thought we'd take a chance on it for dinner. It was THE best decision we made in Montreal! Every plate was flavorful, reasonably portioned, and creative without trying too hard. We had a fantastic salad to start, which I have tried to recreate at... More
