The place is just awesome. The decor is cozy and welcoming, the waitress was very knowledgeable: she actually knew all about the dishes, beer and wine. She was very patient and she always smiled. The food is equally good. I had the bison tartar and the duck. Simply delicious. Nice portions. It's true it's more on the expensive side, but... More

Entrance is off a side street in Old Montreal. After you open the door and start descending the stairs, you're enveloped by this wonderful smokey but pleasant fragrance. Didn't check to see if they sell it but they should! Fits the lodge-y vibe perfectly. The servers wear plaid flannel shirts and jeans, the room is cozy, and the mounted deer... More

Don't get scared when you get there (I got there at night on a Sunday evening, the surroundings felt gloomy) you have arrived ! Design and ambience make you think of a Canadian lodge. The food is very original ! Nothing you'll see on a regular menu, from deer to boar through bison and others ... and very tasty. This... More

Stopped in during a family trip to Quebec over the holidays. As I don't eat meat, many of the game specialties were off limits...but enjoyed the oysters and trout. Comfortable downstairs setting; friendly and attentive wait staff. Not cheap.

My wife and I went to L’Orignal, while we were on our Honeymoon. They sat us at a table on the mezzanine. We had a great view of the restaurant from where we were sitting. Our waitress, Shannon, I believe that’s what her name was. She truly made our experience worthwhile. We started off with some oysters and Shannon paired... More

We read about this place having a more Canadian based menu and made a reservation for our first night in town. It was fantastic. We went all in for the bison tongue, boar shoulder, smoked rabbit, and duck pasta. We were not let down one bit. Service was perfect and our server was a water and wine ninja never letting... More

On the positive side, the place seems popular enough, the wine is reasonably priced, the oysters were fresh (but pricey). On the negative side, after 10 minutes we were ignored by the waitress who would rather drink shots at the bar. The bison burger was tasteless. Not a great value.

This was our first trip to Montreal. Our concierge recommended L'Orignal and overall we were quite pleased. We had some difficulty locating it by foot but inside the atmosphere is a nice romantic country atmosphere although perhaps too dark. The waitress apparently couldn't see my glass well and poured ice water all over the table and didn't notice until I... More

A little disappointed with the restaurant as had been built up to be marvellous. The food was quite acceptable but just lacked finesse. The staff very attentive, in fact too much so as you only had to put your glass down for it to be refilled with wine and felt a little rushed.
