We visited Montreal for the first time and saw a line out the door at this petite patisserie. We figured it must be great as all the locals were waiting in line! We were not disappointed, in fact we went back 4 times during our 5 day stay! Fabulous, fresh out of the oven, pastries, coffee, and homemade soup. The... More

the plain croissant and Kouign Amann, claimed to be the house specialty. This is a quaint little bakery with only 3 tables. We went there to get a light lunch during a recent visit to Montreal. We tried several items on the menu, the plain and cheese croissant; quiche, soup, Kouign Amann and a blue berry tart. I would say... More

This is one of the total French experience's in Montreal. The menu is all in French and the staff speak very little English, so it's fun to figure out what you'll have and then attempt to tell them. There is a small array of pastries, which go fast, so get there early. Coffee is rich, aromatic and delightful, a perfect... More

On Sunday, July 27, we took a 20 minute train ride to try the kouign amann here only to find that this patisserie was closed! They are on holiday and will not reopen until sometime in August (I believe, mid-August). If you are planning on going soon, make sure you call ahead to see if they are reopened. Since I... More

Best croissants I've ever had! My husband (who has had Parisian croissants) agreed. These were so good, we went back the next day for breakfast again (20 minutes on the Metro). The bakery is busy enough that they were still warm. Also had the Kouign Amann which was great, but a bit sweet. The quiche was good warm or cold,... More

Friendly staff who were very forgiving towards my lack of French. Everything was so fresh and tasty that we could not help but try almost everything on the menu and taking away their tarts and baguette. Prices were very reasonable and cheap compared to many other bakeries. This place is authentic and it's nice to be able to see the... More

I researched "best croissant" and got this patisserie, which indeed has the best croissant EVER, and I have eaten them in France as well as other French areas of the world. Will try the Kouign Amann next time. The people working there are very happy and friendly. The kitchen is right there and you can see them preparing the pastries.... More

Tried this amazing little bakery as I'd read about it on here. Amazing pastry and you can see them make it so you'll know how...lol. I wish. This is a TINY store front with limited choices as opposed to the larger pastry shops that reside on almost every street. Their pastry is outstanding though. There are 4 small tables for... More

While I wouldn't necessarily consider Patisserie Kouign Amann a restaurant, it does serve some pretty amazing pastry. The shop and seating area is incredibly small and the outside is so simple that it's easy to miss... but it doesn't stop a constant flow of locals and visitors from popping in for a Kouign Amann or a Croissant or a Quiche.... My husband and I were strolling down Mont-Royal checking out the shops and stopped in front of Kouign Amann simply because of the smell. We had already had a chocolate croissant at a shop down the street and I tried to say no - more than one chocolate croissant in a day? Even though we were on vacation, I was... More
