What a treasure

I am so glad we visited here for the namesake dessert, kouign amann. It is a quaint place in the midst of many other places but it is so special. Our first visit we only had room to share a piece of the dessert, but we came back on the last day of our visit just to buy an entire... read more

This is a small coffee shop off the main streets of Montreal. They bake everything in the same store using high quality ingredients, real butter, making products melt in your mouth. You should try plain croissants, baguette, sandwich sith ham...and many more items they sale.

Our concierge recommended this bakery and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Kouign Amann and it was outstanding. I've never had anything like it. We ended up ordering 3 of them and now I wish we had ordered more. They are buttery deliciousness! We also had the chocolate croissant and it was fantastic as well. It was warm right... More

Came for the Kouign Amann. I only had a limited time in Montreal and ate at more bakeries than I should have! It was sweet and tender. I've only had the mini Kouign Amann and was surprised at the slice I received. Unfortunately it was nothing extraordinary. It was tasty and inexpensive but not something I would return to buy... Was visiting Montreal on my own and was recommended to try this bakery. The recommendation was valid. Their namesake, Kouign Amann was off the charts. Deliciously buttery and flaky without being overly sweet. Also tried the Chocolatine, which is Quebec speak for small Chocolate Croissant or Pain au Chocolat. Also fantastic. I brought some back to Vancouver and heated them... More

The croissants (I tried both butter and almond) and the Kouign Amann make this place one of the best pastry places I've ever eaten at. It is almost impossible to stop eating their food.

went here with wife & daughter one December morning-I loved it for a couple reasons-I loved it cause it was the real deal-no pretense-kind of a hole in the wall storefront but behind the cash register and display cases you got to see a wide open space with professionals making all kinds of baked goods-but these were people who seemed... We had read the reviews and decided to make this bakery our last stop before heading home to the United States. Do not let the humble exterior fool you. There is mastery here. We took home kouign amann which had a deep flavor beyond sweet and buttery. Our son ordered a cranberry tart. Pastry crust hit a 10 out of... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
