I had lunch here today. There are several vegetarian salad options, a few of which can be easily made vegan. I had the beet salad - great. For non-vegetarians there are many options. I had lunch here today. There are several vegetarian salad options, a few of which can be easily made vegan. I had the beet salad - great. For non-vegetarians there are many options. A nice place to get a good, fresh lunch in Old Montreal without sitting down in a traditional restaurant and without resorting to fast food or chains.

I'm definitely a coffee snob, and this was one of the best lattes I've had in a while! If are in need of a quick pick-me-up, definitely stop here!

What's not to like about this place. I ordered a very nice spinach salad with avocado and blue cheese. The portion size was generous and very fresh. The service was fast and friendly. I arrived just before a rush around 1pm. The menu was very diverse with options that should please everyone.

Found it based on past reviews and tried our first afternoon in Old Montreal. Sandwiches and salads were excellent with great combination of ingredients. Service was equally friendly.

We live in the area and this is an ideal little spot for a quick bite. Make sure to try their homemade ice cream during the summer! Also, they have awesome coffee if you need a Java boost during your beautiful walk around the old port of Montreal.

Had vegetable soup and a spinach salad. Wife had the vegetable soup & a beef sandwich. Thought the soup was very good & the salad was a good value. Problem is when you get a salad to go, they need to give you 2 of those little tiny dressing cups instead of one.

We went into the café about 2.00pm on a weekend and it looked like they were tidying up in readiness to closing. We ordered soup (which was delicious) and took the last of it. We also ordered some sandwiches which were not very nice. Although the service was pleasant, it felt like they were wishing us gone so that they... More

My girlfriend and I had breakfast here 2 mornings of our 3 day stay. Menu has just enough items to get a good satisfying meal. Both our breakfasts came with some delicious fresh fruit as a side. The service was timely. The coffee is delicious. My girlfriend liked their selection of hot tea offered which was good as well.

Food was not as fresh as advertised: my salad had reddish cut marks, and really was not crusty at all. The chicken was obviously re-heated and poorly re-heated: half of it was cold. The salsa was ok tasting, although too liquid, and the corn was just squishy and disgusting. My partner's sandwich looked like it was hit by a train,... More

Wandering about at breakfast time we happened upon Cafe Veritas. An adorable little cafe with kind of an Ikea decor and healthy menu we ordered crepes with fruit and porridge (oatmeal). Both were delicious and this was the best coffee I had in my entire stay in Montreal (trumping Tim Hortons easily).

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
