Great Food

This restaurant has stood the test of a short time, but still it's standing. They offer great food which is their savior. The decor is nice but the ambiance is not the best. The bar for a drink and for eating is good. The dining room offers seats for large groups which can be accommodating. The... read more

We had a business meeting and business lunch. We had gazpacho as a starter and the salmon tartare as main dish. Service was good but extremely overpriced. Their mojitos were not good

bad location, food below any expectations, not worth the price paid, could feel the smell of rotten garbage and flies coming from behind the terrace fence

On the more elevated end of the culinary spectrum on our recent Montreal visit, we dined at Le Local in Montreal. Recommended to us as an exemplar of "terroir" cuisine, the term usually is used in reference to winemaking. In regards to cuisine, this was our first exposure to a Montreal sensibility to using "local" for their menu. With our... More

I went to Le Local with a large group for a bachelorette party and was very please with both the service and food. I had contacted the restaurant via email the day before our party to ask if my friend (vegan) and myself (dairy/egg free) could be accommodated, and they assured me we would. I didn't expect an entire off-the-menu... More

I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the food was decent. On the positive side, the ravioli was tasty and the flank steak was ok (asked for medium, got medium rare). The salad on the plate overtook the steak. I constantly had to move food so nothing fell off the plate onto the table when cutting the steak. My... More

Absolutely amazing food! The presentation, service & food was out of this world. Flank steak had some of the most delicious sauce I've ever tasted.

Tasteful menu. I took only an entrée in the form of the beef tartar which was delicious. My other colleagues were satisfied overall. But it is often small things that make a difference: 1- the sommelier brought us a bottle of 2012 instead of the ordered 2011 - he replied he could not remember if it were on the wine... More

My husband and I were in Montreal for the weekend and a colleague recommended Le Local. What a great place. Nice atmosphere. Unique and creative dishes without being too out there or over the top. The pressed duck confit with figs was amazing. We also had a great waiter who made the meal more enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
