Nice food

The place is very beautiful and well decorated. The drinks were great, specially the Blood Mary with grapefruit juice. The salmon tartar with truffles was divine!!!

Tasteful menu. I took only an entrée in the form of the beef tartar which was delicious. My other colleagues were satisfied overall. But it is often small things that make a difference: 1- the sommelier brought us a bottle of 2012 instead of the ordered 2011 - he replied he could not remember if it were on the wine... More

My husband and I were in Montreal for the weekend and a colleague recommended Le Local. What a great place. Nice atmosphere. Unique and creative dishes without being too out there or over the top. The pressed duck confit with figs was amazing. We also had a great waiter who made the meal more enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

One of my favorite restos in the city... the food can be hit and miss but the ambience is fantastic.

My girlfriend and I tried this restaurant. We went on a Wednesday night which was just perfect and not too busy. We started with two cocktails (bourbon bloody Cesar + gin and grapefruit) which were very good. For starters we had the carpaccio which was phenomenal and salmon tartare that was very ordinary. The main dishes consisted of a scallop... More

Ate here with a groups of friends and enjoyed their appetizer menu. Food was really well done, good variety (we like the lamb meat balls, lobster cakes and caramel/chocolate cookies). The service staff was really great. I did think the price was a little on the high side but would still go back. I also liked the deco, modern with... More

Le Local is a trendy bistro located in the heart of Old Montreal in what must have been an industrial building that has been modernized to create a funky urban atmosphere. My wife and I had dinner here based on a recommendation of a business associate from Montreal. The food is of reasonable quality with interesting ingredients and pairings. I... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
