We had our department Christmas lunch here and all 8 of us enjoyed our meals - that's saying something for this particularly picky bunch. Several of us had the leek soup, others had minestrone - all mopped it up with the yummy bread to get every last drop. I had the mediterranean salad and loved it. Very fresh, great ratio... More

We were here recently for a birthday party. The food and service were both very good. We had some appetizers for the table including grilled octopus, fried calamari sausage & peppers and oysters Rockefeller. As a main course, I had the linguni pescatore which I would also recommend. Unfortunately, I was so full, I had no room for dessert.

My aunt has been going here for a very long time and it shows they respect her. We had ordered a shiraz which one waiter said was very good, well it wasn't and they kindly replaced it with another choice. Food as usual was very good, the ladies had veal and I opted for pasta.

We've been going to Vago for several years now, sometimes for special occasions (birthdays, dinner with friends, celebrations, etc.) and other times just for a pleasant dinner in the neighborhood. I'm always pleased and impressed with the food and the service - it's unpretentious, simple and cooked just right. The big point of differentiation for me between Vago & other downtown... More

This was our second visit to Vago and we had a small party in their private room. Giovanni and his team served us a wonderful, family style meal. Absolutely the best Primi, try the Eggplant Parmigiano and the Polpetti. Veal and Lamb dishes were devoured. The food was really, really good. What more can I say! This is a small... More

It has taken me a while to find the words and write about our experience. In fairness, previous experiences at this restaurant were much better. The good is above average, but pricey. One Saturday evening we booked this restaurant before a hockey game. We had a nice dinner, then two of our party left for the game at 6:45 pm... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
