Fantastic lunch

A truly wonderful lunch at very reasonable price. The vegetable soup was delightfully spicy. The bulgogi was so tasty. The meat was truly tender. Really enjoyed it.

I ate Tan soo yook and Jajangmyun at Chez Bong. So disappointed.
Because it took over an hour to find this restaurant at the Chinatown, my family had high expectation that we would finally eat a delicious Tan sook yook and Jajangmyun, Korean style Chinese dishes in Montreal.

Particularly, Jajangmyung is too expensive with the small portion. The noodle was... More

A good friend of mine showed me this place some time ago. I always love going there, #27 on the menu is what I always take. If you think of taking an entree with meal, think twice the portions are very big! Never dispoainted though

My wife's Korean and when travelling, we always strive to find the most authentic and yummi Korean restaurants around the world. LA's Koreatown (e.g. Soot Bull Jeep) sets the standard, we measure to and CHEZ BONG lives up to this standard in every way. Marvelous Galbi, great Banchan and an amazing spicy pork dish will make us return tonight for... More

We had Tansuuk, Bibimpab and soup. They don't give you a lot of side dishes like kimchi, but the food taste excellent, like at home. The dough on tansuuk is so delicious very chewy as I like. It is not an average Korean food. Prices are very cheap. We were going to have second lunch at Pho place, but stumbled... More

I went to Bong's with friends for a b-day. We ordered some korean's popular plates and it was average. My spicy rice cake was a little too spicy but for a small buck, the plate was very big. Fair price for students.

Nestled in China town, below street level. The servers were a young man and an older woman, they were both very friendly. Our dishes were: pajeon, dolsot bibimbap, jjamppong, nakji bokkeum and yukgaejang. Really for being out of the NY/NJ area we thought the food tasted great. It was just what we needed to sate our craving for Korean this... More

Small portion sizes, slow service, shoddy food, overpriced. Pro-tip: don't order a large, just order two smalls - the portion sizes are the same. It is one of the few places in Mtl where you can get dolsot bibimbap, however. Not recommended.

Wondering in chinatown, I started to crave for some food and ended up in Chez Bong. The place was empty, and the young waiter and his mother (my guess) where at my service. Kimchi was great, and so the fried dumplings and the pork stew with kimchi and vegs. The price was pretty reasonable, and the staff was overall friendly.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
