Great little gem in old Montreal

What a busy little spot!! But still, being solo, I got seated right away! I had an absolutely delicious and refreshing strawberry vanilla lemonade ( I might try to recreate this at home! ) and despite the hot day, I still went with a warm panini : the Mr. Asparagus! It was very good. It had... read more

This tiny little corner in the old city of Montreal epitomizes why I love this city. Bustling, friendly service in a crowded breakfast "boite" often does not appeal to me but Olive & Gourmando manages to serve delicious fast food, wonderful coffee, and pastries with a flair and panache which makes everyone feel welcome and well cared for. The brioche... More

A very busy crowded place......for a reason. Good coffee, excellent pastries and very very very very good pressed/panini made out of an excellent bread.

We were told to go here from family we have that live in Montreal. It had a very cute atmosphere, and delicious food (all of the food looked amazing as well). I would also suggest getting the coffee from here, it was delicious as well. I would recommend getting there a little before lunch, as it does tend to have... More

Old Montreal has many gems lining their streets. This was one of them. Fresh made breads, pastries, and rolls are definitely showcased here. Breakfast was wonderful and very fresh. The wait staff there was all smiles and very helpful. I am very glad we went here, and we recommend that you try it soon!

We stumbled upon this nearly hidden gem while strolling around as tourists and it turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of our three days in Montreal. We didn't have a meal here -- what we did have was a wonderful hour or so of sipping coffee while munching on sinfully delicious pastries and watching the variety of... More

I enjoyed my homemade granola and yogurt very much. If you want a large breakfast menu, this isn't the place. It's a cute little place in a great section of town. I can't rate the lunch since I didn't eat it, but the menu has some pretty standard sandwiches. I don't feel Olive is a must see place to eat,... More

Although it was packed with people we were seated quickly. I had the breakfast panini and she had the soup and a garden salad. The outstanding panini was enough for two. The soup was fabulous. Will definitely go there again if we return to Montreal.

We dined at many places while in Montreal for another GP weekend. We had brunch here before we went to the spa. The wait was not long, in a very crowded spot. Testament to how good the food/coffee is. The service could have been better. I had the smoked trout cold sandwich--highly recommended. In fact everyone at my table ate... More

What a fabulous place. Best coffee, croissant and sandwiches in Old Montreal. But there several outstanding places around. If you wNt a great atmosphere, this is the place

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
