Best Mac n Cheese Ever!

I've been here a few times, mostly for breakfast. You have to be prepared to wait, but it is so worth it. This time, we went for lunch and had their special Macaroni and cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Believe me, it's rich, but soooo good. They use raclette cheese, and add... read more

The food was outstanding (we went in the winter) and very nicely presented (everything looks delicious). It's a bit pricy for baked goods, but their sandwiches are all quite delicious (anyone who's had the Cuban recommends it, and their grilled cheeses sound amazing). They also make good tea and coffee. The place is usually really crowded, and they don't take... More

Small bakery / restaurant, went on a Saturday, place was very busy but got a table right away. Larger groups of 3+ had a bit of a wait time. Server was quickly at our table and explained the dishes that were available. Coffee choices were many but opted for the ordinary drip coffee which was excellent. We ordered the homemade... More

Outstanding food - baked goods and sandwiches amidst the hip vibe of old Montreal. My wife and I have been 5 times and this is always a destination. If you want some authentic local experience - this is the place.

We came here twice on our trip to Montreal. We first came here for breakfast - the service was friendly, atmosphere was fun, and food was quite good. So we decided to come back for lunch later that week. The second time however, was not a great experience: one of the server was not very friendly, and soup came out... More

This gem is located in the Old Port of Montreal. Many locals goes there not only tourist, always a huge line ups every season but it's worth the wait. The pastries are made fresh and tasty, salads are amazing with lots of delicious healthy toppings and melted gouda-licious breakfast paninis are to die for!

I'm so glad we ate at Olive & Gourmando, which is located in Old Montreal. I ordered the "big healthy salad" or something similarly named, which had lots of interesting and delicious toppings like pomegranate seeds, grains, croutons, tomatoes, and more. My boyfriend ordered the mac & cheese, which also came with a pretty good size salad. Both of our... More

Ingredients are simple but very well made. Also nice balance of seasoning and/or dressing. Really like this place to grab something and go for lunch etc. Gets very busy though is you want to eat there.

Do not miss this place when in Old Montréal. OeG is typically closed on Sunday and Monday but we were lucky that it was open on a Sunday because of special holiday hours. The ambiance is super cute and cozy and the food is out of the world. Their poached egg in your face sandwich is the best breakfast sandwich... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
