On the strength of Fodor's guide to Montreal, tucked away in the old part of the city, we paid this place a visit. No stars there at the time of our visit to mingle with. Instead, a long line up at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon; but we were soon seated at the bar looking out into the street. Full... More

We had a wonderful lunch, we had great service, it was a crazy scene with a weird mixture of French and English being spoken but would definitely go again. Definitely part of the local scene.

We came in here for lunch and were not disappointed - their sandwiches were super tasty as was the soup of the day. It's a nice quaint restaurant, probably a bit too crowded during the lunchtime with a line waiting to get in. The service was pleasant and very welcoming.

At lunchtime on Friday we had to wait 20 minutes outside - glad it was not raining - to be seated at a countertop. Great service and wonderful food, well prepared! Not inexpensive, but would like to return.

Friend took me here a few days ago. I had the vegitarian Chili. Awesome. She has a salad and loved it. I have to go back to try everything on the menu. It all looked so good. Wait was about 1/2 hour on a Saturday at 1 pm. Well worth it! Place is small, quaint and cozy. It was packed... More

Hungry? This place will quench your hunger, hands down. Many times here, still awesome. Had the Cuban, with the soup and brought some business colleagues. They said they will be back. No kidding, best sandwich in Montreal. Enjoy and be early, or be prepared to wait in line!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
