We visited Restaurant Apollo this week (Wednesday night) a group of 10 people. The setting is nice and the service was above average. As well the wine selection is wide and you have some nice choices on the 70-80 $ range. The food was good, nothing bad to report, temperature was good, taste varied from one to the other (but... I wanted to try this resto for "Montreal a table" thinking that this is a promotional event and the food they serve would be sub-standard food. Then I also saw the "bad" reviews ... Was expecting not to be impress. However this was a surprise ... the best dish have to be the foie gras crème brûlée! The service was... More

Spacious restaurant. Friendly staff. Foot of the table made it difficult to find a comfortable position. Bread is not automatic; they will ask you if you want some, but won't provide you with butter or oilve oil. First course (scallop - notice the singular - and soup) was very nice and delicate. My wife ordered the "orange roughy" for her... More

This is an experience, an adventure even. It's delicate, concentrated molecular flavors with French sauces. The duck is a taste sensation, the scallops with black pudding a surprise. Every dish is intricate with contrasting flavors, sauces and textures. It must be experiences. Desserts continue with fresh berries and fruit mixed with ice cream, panna cotta and cakes. The restaurant is... More

The ambience was very nice, the food was good but i wouldnt say out of this world. The service was great and very attentive to details and very friendly. I wish the food was a bit more unique, but it turned out to be just a bit interesting but nothing worth raving. Steak tartare a bit flavorless, burrata was very... More

We had the watermelon soup, very small portions of a flavorless soup. Then the tuna salad, a strange thing, cubes of raw tuna with cherry tomatoes soaking in a red sweet sauce that tasted like a diluted barbecue sauce. The whole thing looked like a raw skewer waiting to be cooked.

On a solo shopping spree along Rue Saint-Catherine, a salesperson recommended Apollo, behind the Christ Church Cathedral. I missed it the first time because the small restaurant is located in a 19th century building once part of the historic Anglican Gothic Revival cathedral.Other than the pointed arch windows, the inside was very modern and most tables, when I arrived near... A very quiet Tuesday night but service was wonderful with food to match. I heard no complaints from our party of 14. I had the steak tartare (my first time - yum) and beef cheeks (lovely and tender - not too sure about the sauce). The other food looked great. To top it off individual bills were presented without prompting.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
