Very watery and tough flank steak. Shy on vegetables and a starch.

Ate here for the second time last week for a group business dinner. They were clearly trying hard, but the salad had far too much dressing already on it, the bavette looked and tasted like it had been thawed too fast by microwave, the "grill lines" appeared to be painted on and it was very tough... read more

Though the official name is Bistro L'Aromate, this is far from a classic bistro. The ground-floor space is more of an urban-chic resto-bar with mod décor, a nightclub's soundtrack, and mood lighting that cycles colours. The mezzanine level is more conventional and quite elegant, but not always open, so if that's where you want to sit, call to confirm. The... More

Great french bistro. The chicken liver mousse is probably the best I have ever tried. Salmon so fresh and well prepared that it is a memorable experience. I was there for lunch in early spring so easy to find a table and have reasonably good service. I will return.

This is the restaurant is very close to my office, I've been there a few times already and I will continue to do so. This is the restaurant of renowned chef Jean-François Plante. It is located right in the business areas and is affiliated with l'Hotel St-Martin (4*). Thus, don't expect a cheap eat. However, you can expect very good... More

It is a pretty expensive restaurant, but it is located right in the downtown business area and under a 4-star hotel, so this is to be expected. They also have a lot of customers, especially in the summer. I did not get the chance to try too many items on the menu, but their risotto is absolutely tasty.

We went there in a Friday night ( February 20th, 2015 ) , the place was full and it was nice that we had reservation. The place is nicely decorated and the staff very friendly. The food was great, we ordered the scallops which were cooked perfectly, the salmon tartare, nicely seasoned and the beef tartare which was perfect. The... More

We had breakfast and dinner there, and also a room order. The breakfast was good with a typical price tag for hotel restaurant ($15). Dinner was excellent but on the expansive side (Appetizers at $20 and $25) and the same for main courses ($29 ++). I had a burger delivered to the room. It was excellent, and so the fries,... More

Very nice place for dinner. We ordered the Table de Hote and were not disappointed in any of the items. The veal sweetbreads were delicious; the scallops were impeccable. Matching wines were available; the service was very good. Very good meal at a very reasonable price.

I went with a friend for a quick bite at L'Aromate. Had the Tatare de Saumon and was really good. What impressed me the most was the Homemade Charcuterie. The Pate de Volaille was something I never tried before and it was really good. Service was quick and good but that was maybe because we were there at 2:30pm (After... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
