Great foor, nice athmosphere

We were in L'Aromate for a lunch, by coincidence. Great service - careful, not pushy, taking time for you. Good food - nothing extraordinary, however good choice of appetizers, great poultry and steaks, nice deserts. Quite a lot of people - what we considered good sign. any time again.

The most expensive and least liked meal we had in Montreal. Staff was lovely but the main course was something I would consider a failure if I made it at home.

I guess I had expected better quality and flavors. The salad was very nice, but really - it's a salad, folks, easy to get right and hard to screw up. The bread with tapenade was good, the sliced duck app was gamey and dull. Service was typical big city wait staff.

A nice option next Le St-Martin Hotel Centre-ville – Hotel Particulier, where I was staying. The salmon tartar is very nice, and they ofer wine in glasses.

Nightmare! The food is grotesque, the service is absent, and the decor is as "kitsch" as it comes. Not only is the wait staff slow but are incredibly rude. -Avoid!

I enjoyed L'Aromate and it is very convenient if you are staying at the St. Martin hotel. The ambiance is nice and the food is what I would expect from a mid range to upscale bistro (enjoyed the risotto). However, I did find the service to be a little slow when I was there most recently.

Ate here for the second time last week for a group business dinner. They were clearly trying hard, but the salad had far too much dressing already on it, the bavette looked and tasted like it had been thawed too fast by microwave, the "grill lines" appeared to be painted on and it was very tough and tasteless. Really not... More

Though the official name is Bistro L'Aromate, this is far from a classic bistro. The ground-floor space is more of an urban-chic resto-bar with mod décor, a nightclub's soundtrack, and mood lighting that cycles colours. The mezzanine level is more conventional and quite elegant, but not always open, so if that's where you want to sit, call to confirm. The... More

Great french bistro. The chicken liver mousse is probably the best I have ever tried. Salmon so fresh and well prepared that it is a memorable experience. I was there for lunch in early spring so easy to find a table and have reasonably good service. I will return.

This is the restaurant is very close to my office, I've been there a few times already and I will continue to do so. This is the restaurant of renowned chef Jean-François Plante. It is located right in the business areas and is affiliated with l'Hotel St-Martin (4*). Thus, don't expect a cheap eat. However, you can expect very good... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
