Tapas fun with international flavors

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Vertige. On Tu-Th they offer a tapas selection - 3 starters and 3 small mains - 6 dishes for $29. The two of had 12 different tastes and finished with a nice creme brulle. The rose was very good as was the service. This meal was fun.

My husband and I received excellent food and wine from a diverse, interesting menu. However, our table was miniscule. I had to put our bread basket directly under my left elbow to have space for the balance of the dishes and drinks. It was very uncomfortable. What was even more uncomfortable was the oppressive heat and humidity in the restaurant... More

Thanks for your review. Although we don't understand how the uncontrollable weather (one of the hottest day recorded this summer, in Quebec, that our A/C was unable to compete with) and the size of the tables (which have been of a standard size for the past 10 years we have been open) justify your rating, we appreciate your positive comments... Both my girlfriend and I tried a tasting menu with foie gras and really enjoyed it. Every dish was delicious and we really enjoyed our visit. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the service was pretty good.

We went to Vertige after a long day of driving to Montreal. Everything was super tasty. Especially the salad. No complaints.

I guess I had high expectations because of the reviews. The food was good but nothing over the top, 2 people 1 beer $85 with tip.

A good and generous meal for two with a drink, including taxes and tip for 85$ CDN, is what we consider a fair price, considering the quality of our food and the location you visited (downtown Montreal). Thanks for the review. More

Dinner was beautifully presented . Always consistently good . The carpaccio a little tough but the duck was superb. The arancina I appetizer was amazing. Delicious truffle flavour.

When you arrive at Vertige restaurant you are greeted warmly by the owner or staff. It's a great restaurant to come to in the summer when you can sit by the open window. The food is delicious and well priced, so you sample several appetizers and have a main course. There is lots of variety on the menu, including a... More

We had quick drinks at Vertige while waiting for our dinner reservation at Au Pied de Cochon. We had a late reservation and wanted to have a drink somewhere and after walking all over the neighborhood and being continuously turned away (excuse: you have to eat something even if you sit at our bar), the staff at Vertige warmly welcomed... Being a CIA Grad Pro Chef I am very particular about restaurants. We travel to Montreal once a year for 2 nights. One of the two nights we try one of the Tripadvisor "higher rated" restaurant (usually overrated and just OK) and the other night we will go to Vertige. The food at Vertige is awesome especially Tapas night which... More

A lovely restaurant in the Le Plateau district of Montreal. We sat by the open windows and started with some delicious sangria. We decided on the tasting menu and I HIGHLY recommend you try this. Everything we tried was superb (saffron risotto w/grilled shrimp, foie gras, roasted cod w/onion confit, lamb, molten choc cake). Starting with salmon tartare, which made... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
