A great place to have a special dinner

When you arrive at Vertige restaurant you are greeted warmly by the owner or staff. It's a great restaurant to come to in the summer when you can sit by the open window. The food is delicious and well priced, so you sample several appetizers and have a main course. There is lots of variety on... read more

We had quick drinks at Vertige while waiting for our dinner reservation at Au Pied de Cochon. We had a late reservation and wanted to have a drink somewhere and after walking all over the neighborhood and being continuously turned away (excuse: you have to eat something even if you sit at our bar), the staff at Vertige warmly welcomed... Being a CIA Grad Pro Chef I am very particular about restaurants. We travel to Montreal once a year for 2 nights. One of the two nights we try one of the Tripadvisor "higher rated" restaurant (usually overrated and just OK) and the other night we will go to Vertige. The food at Vertige is awesome especially Tapas night which... More

A lovely restaurant in the Le Plateau district of Montreal. We sat by the open windows and started with some delicious sangria. We decided on the tasting menu and I HIGHLY recommend you try this. Everything we tried was superb (saffron risotto w/grilled shrimp, foie gras, roasted cod w/onion confit, lamb, molten choc cake). Starting with salmon tartare, which made... More

Back again for the fourth time!! Enjoyed it all from the ravioli, the goat cheese salad, the torchon of foie gras, the lamb tajine and finally the cod :-) Seat down, relax and enjoy the flavors :-).

We stopped by Vertige after reading the reviews but were not impressed. My husband had shrimp ravioli and beef short ribs and I had the filet and chocolate dessert. Although everything was good and cooked properly, it was not extremely good or memorable. The staff was kind and we do not regret coming here, but would go elsewhere if in... More

Expecting great things from such a highly rated restaurant, we found first that the actual menu and the menu online were quite different with many fewer offerings on the former. We also found a Lone Ranger server - one woman doing all but cooking - seating people, taking drink and food orders, delivering and clearing food and ringing up bills.... More

I almost don't want to write the review because it was that good and I want it all for me. Visited Montreal for F1 race with party of 7, including 2 children. Excellent food and service. I can't stop thinking about the tartare, pate and duck breast. My 7-year old nephew's new favorite food is escargot. My brother-in-law is still... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
