Visited this fine restaurant before we went to Anne play and this was the perfect starter to the evening. The menu was extensive and food was served promptly. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious!

My sister and I walked all around the downtown Charlottetown area looking for a restaurant that would cater to both of your unique tastes – she loves sea food, I’m a vegetarian – and all we could find were restaurants that specialized in seafood until we came across St. James Gate Restaurant and Pub. It looked inviting with it’s outdoor... More

The food was great whether it was sandwiches or fish and chips. The chips are home grown and very tasty. Try the local beers. We had a Gahan with our meal and it was tasty. Service was awesome.

Our server was awful. We were looking forward to trying their scallops and bacon. We waited 25 minutes after placing our order. Finally our entrees arrive, but where are the scallops? We were offered the scallops for free , but our entrees were hot and ready. They also were dinner-sized and this was supposed to be lunch. The jambalaya was... More

On Friday, between 4 and 6 it is half price appetizers with the purchase of a drink. There were a decent amount of Appies to choose from, we shared three: Sweet potato fries with Thai mayo, Baked spinach and artichoke dip with naan bread and tortilla chips and Asian ginger beef with veggies. All three tasted pretty good, the only... More

This character pub has excellent food, good service, and great ambience. Its named for the Guiness Dublin brewery location. We grazed with appetizers during Friday happy hour (half off appetizers and beer), and had the best mussels ever. They were PEI mussels and we've eaten mussels all over the world--simple prep, and they were sweet and delicious. Very friendly waitstaff... More

Went here in October with some friends. Nothing special to say, food was above average, although it did take awhile to get our lunch. They do have events at night which make the atmosphere a bit better. I find that the menu is better at this St. James Gate than at the one in Moncton.

We just happened upon this pub on a recent trip to Charlottetown. We had a great experience. Food was awesome, the staff was very friendly. Our event for the evening that brought us to Charlottetown was cancelled and they were very helpful to bring us community events newsletters to help us fill our evening in the city. Will definitely go... More
