If you are looking for Indian food, which taste like home cooked food, this is the place to go. It is more of a take out location. Not a great place to sit down and eat.

Great food, great value, great service. Not a fancy place though. Best butter chicken I have had in North America. Paneer tikka was excellent too. Tandoori chicken was good but not great. Rasmalai is excellent. Order at counter and pickup the food when your number is called. They do take VISA. We were there for dinner in June 2014.

Took the kids on a tour of Toronto's "Little India" and was so pleased with our experience at Motimahal. It's not much from the outside, or from the inside for that matter, but if you can get to the back of the restaurant where you order, it will all be worth it!. Pictures on the wall are helpful to navigate... More

I have been all over India and tried butter chicken in dozens of restaurants in North America. Motimahal's butter chicken is incredible. Smoky, rich and spicy generous portions of savoury dark meat. Try it with the rumali roti. The goat curry is also really good, though a touch on the oily side. The place is very casual - looks like an... More

Not only the best ras malai and thali in the city, but also the overall freshest sub-continental food. Uncomfortable cafeteria-style seating is offset by quick, professional service plus a good price point (how can they employ 9 people on weekend shift at once?) A classic example of 'go where you see all the locals go to eat' (i.e. follow the... More

I was disappointed by little India in Toronto but perserverence pays off! I found the Motimahal Restaurant on Gerrard. There is nothing fancy about this place but the samosas are outstanding. I was not that impressed with the chicken but the vegetarian samosas are excellent. So if you are in the area and want to try an excellent and inexpensive... More

My family and I have been going to Motimahal for years but now we are living in the US. When we come back to visit we love going to Motimahal for their chana bhatura. However, today was the worst experience ever!! The chana bhatura was bland lacking in spices, salt and flavor. And when we told the workers they said... More

Our daughter and her husband live not far from Little India on Gerrard Street in Toronto, and we like to go there on a warm summer evening because although not nearly as crowded as India itself, there are still a lot of families and other people on the street and you can really experience the Indian culture. These days it... More

Place is very old and has not been kept up. It is on the dirty side and you have to wait for a long time to order and get your food. We found the prices to be reasonable. Veg food quality was decent but they serve food on stainless steel plates which is good but we noticed they have not... More

I had butter chicken meal to go with naan. Was disappointed when I got home and found one little chunk of butter chicken with a whole pile of sauce. It was good but feel a little ripped off. Tasty but for $2 more I could have eaten next door all you can eat. If there is a next time I... More
