Tasty Afghan Kabobs

I've been here many times over the past 2 years. They consistently have very good kabobs that are well-seasoned, cooked properly and served fast and fresh. It is a no frills restaurant - but I usually get take-away so really a non-issue. Good value for money - large portions. Having eaten the... read more

Visited this place twice as was staying at a hotel very nearby. As my requirement for Halal meat was met by this eatery, I was impressed with the standard of food and generous portions of serving. Its a self service place where you place your order and then are called to come and collect you food so you sit where... More

There are a number of halal fast food restaurants along Overlea Boulevard in the Thorncliffe Park community in East York. Afghan food and Halal restaurants are everywhere but Bamiyan Kabob, which has become a small local chain with locations throughout the GTA, is our favourite. For lunch recently we enjoyed: Chaplee Kabob - two round pieces of ground beef marinated... More

You want hot, fresh, flavourful, consistent, plentiful food...this is the place. The menu is small but the theme is the same. Meat kabob, rice, Afghan-style naan, salad. This is always an extremely busy place in East York but the wait is always rewarded for either eat in or take out. Service is courteous and quick and you can't beat the... More

I went there were 2 friends and ordered the chicken tikka, chicken kabob which was good. Our total was $46, the cashier said she will accept USD but asked me to pay same amount even though $36USD at this time was $46 CAD. She could have charged $38 USD - 46 CAD v/s trying to RIP ME OFF!!

The food is so good that we have become regulars there. I tried most of the food in the menu and am gonna keep on going there more. In this neighbourhood, if I would rate the best restaurant to dine in with either family or friends, it would be Bamiyan. But if you are coming with friends, Faleys which is... More

Love this place, its great for dine in as well as take out, as its 5 minutes away from my house and office, I'm here several times a month, and love the different things on their menu such as the chicken breast kabob, the lamb chops, koofta, and chicken tandoori. The food here is wonderful, and their hot sauce is... More

Feed a family on the cheap. Lots of rice. Lots of potatoes. Lots of meat. Order and pickup ahead for a streamlined experience.

The food is so delicious that we have become regulars there. I have personally tried everything on the menu and have no complaints whatsoever! Expect long line ups and to order take out it's very hard to reach anyone over the phone. We usually order our take out on the spot. The only reason I am not giving this place... More

Their tag line is "your health is our concern". You can easily enjoy a healthy meal of kabobs and salad. The problem was I ate too much! The Kabilee Rice (brown basmati with raisins, carrots and almonds) was delicious. The naan bread is a different flavour and texture as compared to Indian restaurants. You order at the cashier and get... More

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
