fresh and quick service

This place has the best sushi I've had in T-dot! The sushi is always fresh, the waitstaff are tentative to customer's requests, and the meals are serviced quickly. This place has the best value for sushi in town. It does get busy, so I would suggest making reservations for lunch especially. I will... read more

Very fresh fish. Plenty of choice. Great lunchtime specials. Service is quick and friendly. Don't be put off by the layout. It looks odd because it is odd. You wouldn't go there for a romantic meal or a full on business meeting but if you are looking for good sushi at a good price you'd be crazy not to visit.

Tiny place. Glad a friend lead us here - might have been hard to find on our own. Great service and really fresh food. There were 7 of us and we had sushi, sashimi, soup, sake, salads, tempura - everything was delicious!

Pricy small restaurant - almost didn't see it. Attentive staff, clean, good choices. Dinner during the IIHF in Toronto - the city was busy - no where to eat! Sat at the bar: sake, edamame, chef's choice sushi platter - beautiful presentation, succulent sushi. Pricy but not sure if that is all the time of if they were just taking... More

Third time I eat here, great food selection and quality. The combos are excellent value for money and include salad and miso soup. There are a few tables and a few private cabins and you can eat as well at bar. Not the cheapest of the sushi but for the quality it is well worth it.

Good place for light lunch of sushi. The sushi is freshly prepared, and the fish very good. Fresh, light. I would say that they put too much wasabi on the sushi. I would prefer to add myself. Not the most sophisticated selection in Toronto, but very good value nevertheless. If you are staying in the Westin Harbour Castle and looking... More

This is a very good sushi restaurant in a very typical strip mall, in the heart of tourist land. For $54 CAD I had nigiri of Salmon, Hamachi, Scallop, Maguro, Unagi as well as a Salmon Skin Hand roll. Oh, and a bottle of cold sake. And the owner threw in a special nigiri of salmon with a light sriracha... More

Oyshi sushi is my favorite pre-game place to eat on a game night at the Air Canada Centre. We usually order a sashimi platter and augment that with a few sushis and a few makis. Everything comes up quick and fresh with nice presentation. Everything is reasonably priced too. We are treated like valued customers and feel appreciated. We will... More

My wife and I ate here on a Tuesday night with our 3 and 5 year old boys. The sushi was very good, service was excellent. Nobody even seemed to mind when our youngest jammed a huge ball of wasabi in his mouth and started screaming!

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
