Did we choose the wrong day?

We found it difficult to locate this restaurant, but sought it out as it was well reviewed. There was no menu outside, and when we went in, we were the only customers. Food is fantastic (best Penne I ever had). A fine selection of wines. Atmosphere is warm and cozy. But the Owner is what makes the experience exceptional! Interacts with the customers, pays attention to details and has a great memory.

Think of it as your favorite neighborhood restaurant if you are away from home. While staying in Toronto for a business/pleasure trip, we stumbled upon this spot and had dinner with 3 other couples. We were treated to fantastic service and food from start to finish. Great prices in downtown Toronto too! Loved the tiramisu! We enjoyed it so much,... More

A group of 8 of us dined there tonight. What a great experience. Loved the comfortable, cozy ambiance. The owners are serving you and do a great job, very attentive but they do not interrupt when you are in a conversation. They made the whole evening entertaining, Carlo was excellent. We had everything from wine, appetizers, pizza, entrees and dessert.... More

We have been there twice now, as the food and the service were excellent. The Caesar salad dressing tasted just like in the old days when it was prepared tableside in a large wooden bowl: the romaine was fresh and crisp: delicious. The homemade tiramisu was amazing. Service was attentive and they went out of their way, even noticing that... More

I ate here recently as part of a group dinner. Service was quick and friendly. The food quality was good and very unpretentious. The décor is dated and desperately in need of some basic maintenance to the point it made me wonder about how well maintained and clean the kitchen is.

Two of us took advantage of a Groupon deal to eat at the Mirto restaurant which entitled us to choose from the Prix Fixe menu. The food was plentiful and mostly good but the house salad contained wilted lettuce and non-descript dressing. However, the fruit flies seemed to be enjoying it. The service was great, very friendly and fast. Even... More

We have dined here several times both as a couple and with larger groups. Every time there has been warm and efficient service and excellent food, especially the Caesar salad, various pizzas and seafood specials. Tiramisu is very good too. This is a restaurant where, even when the place is full, the tables are set well apart and you can... More

Great Italian restaurant with good specials, and a great regular menu too. Try the Rigatoni Mirto or the Pizza Mirto.

Mirto is an owner operated Italian restaurant in downtown Toronto. We have been going for a few years now and the food is consistent, tasty, well presented and priced fairly. They offer BYOW with a $20 corking fee. What inspired this review is what they did for a private party on a Friday night. It was a 40th and we... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
