A pleasantly surprising find

We are a vegetarian family and often it's hard to find interesting, quality vegetarian food. We stumbled across this place and were pleasantly surprised. I had a basic avocado sushi and it was unbelievably fresh and the portion size was huge. My husband and son had different dishes and both were... read more

Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Kensington looking for cheap vegetarian food. Really tasty and filling and a nice calm atmosphere. The staff were very nice and friendly.

The miso soup was very good, but I don't appreciate to much having huge chunks of tofu on it. Maybe I'm used to have the ones with little cubes on it . I had Seiten and it was just ok, nothing to go ballistic on trying again. Probably other dishes are better. I would recommend it to my fellow vegans,... More

Kensington Market is such a fun neighbourhood to explore. I was pleased with lunch at the King's Café. My vegan friends were able to choose from an extensive menu. They commented that too many things were named after meat or made to taste like it...but I thought it was all very good. If you eat vegetarian, you will find lots... More

We had dinner in this restaurant as it was recommended by the persons hosting us in Toronto. It was very good especially that most dishes are vegan and tasty food.

Its really rare to find vegetarian restaurants that actually provide meat/fish substitutes. King's Cafe is a wonderful little gem in the Kensington Market area of Toronto. A varied menu inc the likes of Soy Chicken Kung Po and Veggie Shrimp, is a wonderful alternative to the usual mix of veg and salad often offered as veggie fare. Service was really... More

We discovered King's Cafe a few years ago when visiting Kensington Market. My husband is vegetarian, I am not but I have no problem going to a restaurant without meat of any kind. King's Cafe is always dependable with the freshness of the food and the excellent quality. For us, the soups are the attraction. The hot and soup soup... More

We went here with another couple for dinner. The menu was great with a good variety of flavours and dishes. For vegans and vegetarians, there is a lot to choose from. The portion sizes are pretty large. We were four people and we ordered soup and five dishes. In the end, it was a lot of food. Perhaps ordering four... More

The decor was changed several years ago - wasn't so bad before but now is brighter, modern, and minimalist. Very professional and easy-going at the same time. Wonderful selection of vegetarian foods. Some photos of what the dishes look like may be even more helpful in making selections. Prices were reasonable for food of very high quality. Wheelchair, scooter and... More

King's Café intrigued us since it was a vegetarian Asian restaurant. We were very excited to try it. During our Kensington Market visit, we decided to sample some appetizers for a "to go" snack. We ordered several dumplings to go. It took a while to deliver the food, but we assumed that it must be so, because it may need... More
