When you want a heavy - filling sandwich...come here!

In town for work - wanted something quick and easy (but out of the hotel within walking distance). The valet suggested California Sandwiches which of course in my mind, meant HEALTHY, light, natural ingredients. I could not have been more wrong - BUT - the sandwiches were still very good. I had... read more

This is the place in Toronto for sweet veal sandwiches. They do hot as well, but the sweet veal is some of the best anywhere.

This is great place for lunch. The Sammie are unique to Toronto. Only open a new location when new family member is old enough. Unfortunately cash only

The food is always amazing, however they are too busy to smile, especially the male who was at the cash the day we were there. He acted so annoyed when I placed my order. I had a $50 order and I didn't even get what I asked for. I couldn't go back because we took our food on the road... More

We usually drive down to this location once or twice in a month, the operational hours are excellent! First time way over a year and a half ago, long after this establishment moved over to the corner from the plaza above, we simply just didnt find it. We thought, they closed down, so we went uptown to feed our hunger.... More

We ordered take out from California Sandwiches. It was one of the best places for take out veal sandwiches years ago. What we found was nothing like we remembered. The piece of veal was so small, and overly breaded. Even worse is that it was so overcooked and tasteless. I asked for mushrooms, onions, and peppers and was charged an... More

First off, THE BEST CHICKEN & VEAL CUTLET SANDWICHES IN THE COUNTRY!!! Others take note, THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SANDWICH!!! Worth every penny. Massive fillings, not skimpy with the toppings where some other places actually WEIGH the toppings lol!!! The hot table here is amazing, especially the Eggplant Parmiggianna!! THIS IS CANADAS ORIGINAL SANDWICH SHOP!!!

I was driving by lunchtime and though it was a wrap place. I ordered the steak sandwich, my girlfriend had the grilled veggie sandwich. They sandwiches are very big Sotheby's $20 price tag for 2 and a water is not unreasonable. This was probably the best steak sandwich I've had. I usually don't order this kind of sandwich because the... More

Over expansion really killed the California Sandwich franchise in my opinion. When I once used to get my veal freshly made at the Dufferin and Castlefield location before they moved into bigger digs, they now have the veals pre-made and it's a bit of a let down. Everything about the sandwich seems to have diminished in terms of overall quality... More
