First off, THE BEST CHICKEN & VEAL CUTLET SANDWICHES IN THE COUNTRY!!! Others take note, THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SANDWICH!!! Worth every penny. Massive fillings, not skimpy with the toppings where some other places actually WEIGH the toppings lol!!! The hot table here is amazing, especially the Eggplant Parmiggianna!! THIS IS CANADAS ORIGINAL SANDWICH SHOP!!!

I was driving by lunchtime and though it was a wrap place. I ordered the steak sandwich, my girlfriend had the grilled veggie sandwich. They sandwiches are very big Sotheby's $20 price tag for 2 and a water is not unreasonable. This was probably the best steak sandwich I've had. I usually don't order this kind of sandwich because the... More

Over expansion really killed the California Sandwich franchise in my opinion. When I once used to get my veal freshly made at the Dufferin and Castlefield location before they moved into bigger digs, they now have the veals pre-made and it's a bit of a let down. Everything about the sandwich seems to have diminished in terms of overall quality... More

Best place for veal or chicken sandwiches in Dufferin Lawrence area. Prices a little steep but good quality. The room is quite pretty but it's not fine dining. Hot table good. Eggplant Parm is a good choice

best veal on a bun anywhere, and now at the Warden/Eglinton store they take credit cards/debit unlike Claremont street, and you can buy a small or large mason jar of sauce to take home for spaghetti etc. It is great sauce .

Don't expect any ambiance or atmosphere. California Sandwiches has taken the Italian Steak Sandwich idea started by San Francesco's restaurant in Toronto, and continued it nicely. You walk in and line up to place your order for thinly sliced steak or breaded veal on a bun with tomato sauce, green peppers, onions (on the steak) or optional mushrooms, etc. at... More

I have heard of this place for years but it's nowhere near where I live but I was in the area so I decided to try it out. They did not disappoint. The sandwiches are quite big and even at about $8 each I thought it was fair value. I tried the veal and the meatball sandwiches and both were... More

There is a style of Italian sandwiches (or if you are more hip, panini) that seems to be unique to the Toronto region -- I've had Italian sandwiches around the world (including in Italy) and I have not encountered the Toronto variation anywhere else. Toronto Italian sandwiches are the product of the wave of Italian Immigration of the 50's and... More

Great old school sandwich, always busy, bun fresh and sauce way to good with hot peppers. I don't miss this place when I am in this neck of the woods.
