This was my first time at Yamato and there were three of us for lunch. We decided to eat at a tappanyaki table. The food and service were good but our chef didn't have any pizzazz. Usually at this time of meal you watch the chef do his thing but not the case here, we went back to our conversation... More

Tonight, the service was terrible. I had to ask for hot sauce 4x before I got It. Our drinks were empty for about a half hour till I finally got a servers attention to get us another round. The food was tasteless, and unlike before, fried rice is an extra $5, that comes "with" your meal.... Normally, when you go... More

I highly recommend this place, I've Been here half a dozen times, and the food has not disappointed. I always get the imperial and If you enjoy steak and seafood combo i recommend it. It is also nice because it's located right in yorkville and you can stroll around after as the area is very nice.

Not only is the food excellent, but the service and entertainment factor receive high marks. The food has so much flavour and chefs are so entertaining (they cook right in front of you and they have fun doing so). My husband and I were there for a date and years later, we took our son for his 6th birthday. He had... More

Had a family dinner here in the fall of 2013. At best " OK " with poor table serve ..Chef was great. Needed to wash our clothes straight away when we got home as the smell from the food soaked into them. Decided to give it another shot over the weekend. My daughter had a small Starbucks cup with her... More

Literally just returned from YAMATO. Was considering this for some experiential family dining in the future, so, when colleagues decided to lunch together I thought "what a bonus"! Disappointed. Rating is average - a "three". If I could go "2.5" I would. It will NOT be on my family dining list anytime soon. All the raw materials are there -... More

After carefully checking the various recommendations on tripadvisor i decided to go there for a japanese treat. The layout of the restaurant is ok with one room sushi bar and the other for teppanyaki where i went. There is nothing japanese there: the staff is not, the chef is not, the cooking is not and the tast is not there... More

We went there on a Sat afternoon. Had a sashimi appetizer, which was really fresh; tempura was good. The scallop and salmon tappenyaki main were very very very good, done just right, tender to perfection and once again, very fresh.

We visited the place for the family dinner. Not only did we get really good food but also we had a lot of fun! Te staff was extremely nice and patient, the chefs were entertaining us and the food we got was delicious. We had the Imperial Teppanyaki and we loved it. I highly recommend the place if you count... Was looking randomly for a asian restaurant and made the right choice! The place is nice and modern, bathroom is cool too. But the food is even better, fresh, arty cutting of food, waitress were very attentive and you could see the cook preparing your meal. The location is very convenient as well with a cool atmosphere. After asking for... More
