From the design to the decor to the menu, Tundra was conceived to evoke the image, the texture and the taste of Canada. Now celebrating 15 delicious years, Tundra remains true to its original concept ... Canadian inspired cuisine. Under the tutelage of Toronto native, Kevin Prendergast, our culinary brigade offers a wealth of cooking techniques and styles, thanks to their multicultural and ethnically diverse backgrounds. Inspired by fresh, locally sourced produce and protein, sustainable seafood and foraged gems from independent purveyors, our team passionately makes each dining experience unique ... Depending on the season and the ingredients. The wine list, curated by General Manager and Sommelier Aynsley Lenkorn, is well sourced offering variety in by the glass, on tap, bottle and vintage selections. Canadian craft beer and cocktails that are both classic, yet original are always available. Tundra is elegant and stylish, yet relaxed and welcoming with warm, excellent service and always an enchanting experience. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city at Richmond and University Avenue, within the contemporary Hilton Toronto hotel. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with well tailored menus for all dining experiences from power breakfasts to pre-theatre prix fixe menus to corporate, casual or formal events.

Signs throughout the hotel extolled the creativity of the chef, but the lunch menu, while interesting, was not spectacular. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was not busy, but service was slow. The soup was very good, the seedling salad was good, and the bison burger, while tasty... read more

The ambiance is what you would expect for a hotel restaurant/bar, but the food was exceptional. Both parties were very happy with their choices.

Entrees were served in 3 different batches. .for 4 people. ..one was not the right order. Mine was scallops. .got 2 scallops and a little sauce. . $21...my husband had the club. Same style and presentations as a cheapo diner. Don't expect artisanal bread or anything else here! ! Pass on this place.

I went with a group of 2 others for lunch. Service was very poor, not once did the waitress ask how our meals were, never filled up our glasses with water. I had the fish taco's and wasn't please with them at all. The ambience and decor and excellent however.

We had the buffet breakfast at Tundra in the Hilton and it was quite good. Pretty standard offerings - yogurt, fruit, cereals, hot breakfast, charcuterie and cheese, pastries, etc. Decent variety in each section, with a few nice items like the fresh breads and pastries. There is no omelette bar but omelettes made to order are part of the buffet... More

Tundra sou chef Aaron Chen takes special interest in his diners and his passion for the food is obvious. All the meals were excellent and we were happy eat in the hotel versus go out. Server Neaz Hasan made us feel special and well looked after. I will enjoy many more meals there on my next visit to Toronto.

The decor and location are unappealing -in the lobby of the Hilton. The selection is varied but nothing particularly eye catching. Many options seemed less than healthy but standard fare. Wait staff very friendly and helpful but their good nature will not overcome the general lack of vibe of place -move the restaurant upstairs to level 32 Hilton!

While staying at the Hilton Toronto, I stopped by the Tundra Bar for drinks, a lunch and a breakfast at one point. All were fantastic. We ate lunch here while staying at the Hotel. The service was really good, the bartender approached us as soon as we sat down. We had the Bison Burger and the Club Sandwich both with Ceasar Salads. The food was excellent and I have to say that the Ceasar Salad was one of the best that I have ever had

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
