I cannot say enough about this dining experience, and it is an experience, not merely a night out. From the moment you walk in the staff get it right. When you are ready for them, they are there, if you are engaged in a conversation or wanting a moment alone, they seem to know and wait until the right time... More

Went whilst on a study trip with my colleges. Beautiful building and surrounding. Had the chowder to start which was a little thick but tasted delicious followed by the salmon which was a little over cooked. Others had the smoked salmon for staters which they said was really nice. Everyone had the steaks in one form or another. They were... More

I have been dining at Tom Jones since 1983. I have yet to have a meal that was anything short of spectacular. It is in a unique old house on tiny Leader Lane, across from the King Edward Hotel. Opulent surroundings, three levels to choose from, although the wonderful third floor is for private parties. I typically eat on the... More

We have been visiting Tom Jones Steak House for over 15 years and continue to return for the amazing food and quiet atmosphere. Great for a romantic or family dinner or larger get together. Have attended birthday and anniversary parties here. Very nice family owned restaurant and the owners are very hands on do a great job. The cheese garlic... More

We stumbled across this gem while staying at the nearby Omni King Edward Hotel and decided to pop over for a nightcap. So I can't comment on the food or the dinner-time atmosphere, but the second-floor piano bar was a real treat. The atmosphere was so intimate and unique! The bartenders were very attentive, the pianist was talented, and a... More

Ate at this restaurant recently with 2 friends. As has been stated in several posts, food was excellent, perfectly prepared and served. The wait staff we had were courteous, competent, and professional. From the friendly greeting at the door as you enter, the warm ambiance of a "classic" restaurant setting, to your exit, first class all the way. Yes, the... More

Well, this was definitely a surprise! We were walking around looking for a "steak place" when we stumbled upon Tom Jones Steak House. The server was very attentive and things were addressed before we even had to ask. His recommendation of steak over ribs was appreciated. The ambience was perfect and the food was fantastic! The only downside was the... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we were not disappointed. Tom Jones Steak House is an traditional steak house. We both had filets that could be cut with a fork. Really - people always say that but it is true. We have eaten at some of the best steak houses in New York & Chicago and this tops... More

In some respects Tom Jones is a Toronto institution. It has been in business for close to 50 years in an iconic building tucked in behind a parking lot beside the King Edward Hotel. Sadly, the restaurant has failed to keep up with the times. The decor is stuffy and exceedingly formal, the staff somewhat indifferent as they serve you... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
