Now in its sixteenth year, The Monkey Bar continues to be praised by patrons and critics alike. Proprietor and classically-trained chef Richard Fox-Revett, formerly of Centro, Splendido and The Four Seasons Yorkville, offers a menu that is a flavourful fusion of Canadian, Italian, French and Asian influences, and includes seafood, game and vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is inviting and the service is impeccable. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from our martini menu, or a selection from our broad list of premium vodka and single malt scotch. An extensive wine list, featuring new and old world wines by the glass, half litre and bottle, complements your dining experience. In addition, all our desserts are made in-house. We even provide a children’s menu for the little ones. Our full menu is also available for takeout. The Monkey Bar offers upscale cuisine at affordable prices, all just steps from your front door. Come rediscover North Toronto’s favourite neighbourhood restaurant.

The owner son that served us was amazing. Will come back again for him and of course the food. Will come back again even if is not summerlious price. First time customer but will be back soon.

We are very pleased that you had a great experience at the Monkey Bar and we thank you for letting everyone else know! But, of course, nothing makes us happier than a guest saying nice things about our children. Thank you for that! We hope to see you again very soon. More

Summerlicious is a great way to try out new restaurants - and we'll be sure to be back to this one. We felt like welcomed guests from the moment we arrived and were seated. The menus at some Summerlicious restaurants are limited. The Monkey Bar & Grill offered a wide range of selections, all enticing. The spring roll appetizer arrived... More

Good food, great service, cozy atmosphere. We were for the summerlicious special. A three course rendition of favourite menu items. Can't beat the price or the food.

Small and nicely quiet atmosphere. The food was just average. I had the tiger shrimp pasta, the shrimp were tasty but the small bowl filled with gooey pasta and sauce was very average. My friends had the pecan chicken which was also average according to them. Will not be rushing back.

Thank you for your comments Jennifer. May I suggest that next time, you order the main course tiger shrimp pasta instead of the appetizer portion; we find that it is more than adequate for most people's appetite. The two meals you criticized are, in fact, two of our most popular menu items. We have regular customers who order these items... More

My family has eaten here many times over the years as it is our favorite neighbourhood restaurant. Richard does an amazing job of keeping the food fresh and appealing. The warm salad and crusted chicken are constant hits. But it is the grilled veal chop that I keep coming back for. I often order veal chop elsewhere to compare, and... More

Amazing dinner. I've driven by this restaurant a thousand times and always wondered ... well, tonight the guessing game was over. Creative ... dare I say adventurous menu .... friendly staff ... nice atmosphere (albeit a little cramped) and down right delicious, fresh food! My husband and I typically order a couple of appy's and share a main - that's... More

Friends from L.A. wanted to go out for an early dinner Sat. Night, so we took them to this reliable, neighborhood restaurant. Being practically vegetarians, they opted for the lentil/tofu/veggie extravaganza, which they found exceptionally delicious. Coming from them, this is a big compliment! We, however, devoured the best veal chops ever. Had to have the fantastic apple strudel for... More

I've been to Monkey Grill a few times. But tonight I was reminded why it is so great. Hot Fresh Yummy food. I had to blow on my food before I could eat it, it was so hot. Go there - you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for your kind comments! One thing I hate about some restaurants is when my food isn't hot. When your dinner is steaming, like at the Monkey Bar, you know that your meal was cooked to order (not reheated) and quickly brought to your table. Thank you for noticing and appreciating that, and for taking the time to let... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
