Great place!

Love the menu diversity! The quality of food and presentation is superb! The service is VERY professional. Sometimes they have a live pianist which is an added bonus.

I went here for Summerlicious lunch with 3 friends the other day after looking at the menu online and deciding it looked pretty good. To start, I ordered the salad with melon and it was just alright for me. I thought it needed more dressing and it just wasn't that exciting. For my main I had the chicken dish. The... More

I remember when Sassafraz first opened as we lived on Lowther and frequented Yorkville for the many good dining options. This is going back 17-18 years. Sassafraz became a regular haunt for brunch on the weekend along with strolling thru Y'ville and doing some window shopping and buying! It was a great place for meeting friends but the parking was... I haven't been to Sassafraz for years so we thought we would go for our Anniversary. Booking was easy and accommodating. Parking on the other hand is a challenge in the area with the construction. Not the restaurants fault but give yourself extra time. Service was quick and friendly. I had to ask about specials. Pet peeve of mine that... More

On a recent visit to Toronto to attend a play, we had dinner at Sassafraz in Yorkville. It was a beautiful evening, but too hot to eat on the patio, so we elected to eat inside. We ere seated in a room with large glass doors that opened to the outside, so we had the best of both the indoor... More

Sassafraz is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto, and this year it is participating in Toronto's Summerlicious during the month of July, which is an added benefit. As part of Summerlicious, the restaurant offers a four course fixed price menu with about 12 alternatives across the four courses. We were three, and we tried to sample all of the... More

Summerlicious Menu: Appetizers: Beef Tartar, Grilled Calamari, and Heirloom Tomatoes/Cheese were all very tasty. Main course: Seared bay scallops were done to perfection; however the broth was tasteless. The Strip Sirloin was perfectly cooked and spiced...nice portion size. Becks beer (non-alcoholic) was a plus...more restaurants should put it on their beverage list. Desserts were disappointing...strawberry rhubarb cheese cake and Gotham... More

This restaurant used to be frequented by stars and wealthy Yorkville residents who called it their home away from home, and was always a favorite of mine when I was in Toronto and wanted a great, light meal that would be guaranteed to be good quality and well worth the Yorkville prices. It is still very good, no question, but I... Went here to savour the summerlicious menu. I was a little adventurous with the tartare, scallops and cheesecake, whereas my date had the grilled calamari, steak and cheese course. My dinner was great. Everything was beautifully executed, the flavour in the tartare was mild but had a great and subtle path through the palate. The scallops were well prepared and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
