I went with a group of friends who seemed to love what they were eating (curries) I ordered the chicken noodle type broth which was pretty basic, not much flavor and limited chicken, manly noodles and watered down stock taste. I would give it another go but order something else as the price is cheap and great location. We did... More

We discovered by chance this restaurant. We are not used to eat Thaï, but we already tried in different places. We were not disappointed by Salad King. We were a family and we had a long table. Notice that there is no Meal for children.

Been coming here for over ten years and it's still one of my favourite places to eat in Toronto. The dining room is airy and brightly coloured, and about half the seating is communal style dining tables. When it's busy (which is often) it can get pretty noisy in there. The food is delicious! There are stir fries, curries, soups,... More

A Thai version of Waggamama's but better, terrific menu, fast and friendly service, great tastes and unbelievably inexpensive. Not easy to find, look out for the sign, its up the stairs.

This is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner, but I didn't think the Thai food was very authentic. And the last time I went, they had the ACs set to low or something. It was too hot! I might give this another try though.

Salad King is a great spot for decent, inexpensive Thai food. The atmosphere is upbeat with a mixed crowd. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some privacy though because the tables are set up to be long benches and you will most likely need to squeeze in between two parties to get a seat. However, it is... More

A strange name for a Thai restaurant but if you like quality Thai food at a very reasonable price and haven’t tried this place, you are definitely missing out. I had the Pattaya Chicken – one chili rating and it was just right for this average palate. This was a repeat visit [of a number] and previous decisions to up... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
