Tasty and affordable

Salad King is a busy, energetic Thai spot near Dundas Square. Food is tasty, servings are a generous size and prices are reasonable. Very popular with Ryerson students. Tables are long communal style so fun for a group.

I've now been to Salad King at least 3 different times and every time is better than the last. The Food comes out quick, you can get it as spicy as you want and there is a huge variety of authentically cooked Asian foods. I always get the Pad Thai, nothing like it! I will eat there any and every... More

salad king remains one of the best places to eat on yonge street. very trendy atmosphere and while it looks a little like a fast food place, don't let that fool you! the service is friendly and helpful. on top of that, service is also very very efficient. i don't think i had to wait more than 10 minutes for... This restaurant continues to occupy first place for lunch when we are visiting the Art Gallery of Ontario. We arrived just after 12pm and 30 minutes later it was bursting with customers. My wife ordered the Penang Curry with chicken and I had the shrimp. My portions included 10 shrimp which I found generous. We noticed that most patrons stuck... More

Mirrors the hustle and bustle of Yonge street perfectly. Fast paced, a little loud but seems just right for the area. Food was good to very good. Service was very good. Prices fair. We were pleased enough to go there for lunch two days in a row during a three day visit to Toronto.

Went here with some friends for dinner and got the thai spicy tofu and basil, then went for lunch with my mom and ordered the yellow curry. I used to hate anything but firm tofu until I ate here. Their soft tofu was perfect, and I get it now!!! I have been to a ton of thai places, but this... More

Very busy restaurant indicates one well liked! Lots of seating , individual or family style. Great menu of varied Thai dishes which can be ordered in degrees of heat (spice) to suit all tastes. The food arrives individual rather than as shared so if ordering to share you may have to indicate spare plates. Service we had not great but... More

Noisy and sometimes cramped, but the food never disappoints. Thai Islamic noodle isn't on the menu but is sublime and unique in this city. Spice scale starts at mild... 1 chilli is above hot and the scale goes to 20. I do 8 and most think I'm crazy. Very reasonable prices, no reservations, D&D they do take phone orders for... More

Excellent Thai Restaurant. Had a few hour lay over in TO, hopped on the train and headed off to this gem of a restaurant. Had the Green Mango Salad (veggie and gluten free) followed by the Chop Suey (veggie and gluten free) which was served with steamed rice. The flavors are delicious, although the service was not that great. Love... More

Probably the best deal for Thai food in Toronto. The food is always fresh, hot and prepared fast. Everything on the menu is under $10! Every time I'm in Toronto I eat here, you should too, you'll love it!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
