Fabulous flavours at reasonable prices

A Thai version of Waggamama's but better, terrific menu, fast and friendly service, great tastes and unbelievably inexpensive. Not easy to find, look out for the sign, its up the stairs.

this is a 2nd time I ate at this restaurant, i remember the first time was good, so i came again. but the food today was a bit lousy, i ordered thai-basil noodles. (to go), the dish was still steaming hot when i get back, but when i opened the box, all i see is noodles and 3 shrimps on... More

This is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner, but I didn't think the Thai food was very authentic. And the last time I went, they had the ACs set to low or something. It was too hot! I might give this another try though.

Salad King is a great spot for decent, inexpensive Thai food. The atmosphere is upbeat with a mixed crowd. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some privacy though because the tables are set up to be long benches and you will most likely need to squeeze in between two parties to get a seat. However, it is... More

A strange name for a Thai restaurant but if you like quality Thai food at a very reasonable price and haven’t tried this place, you are definitely missing out. I had the Pattaya Chicken – one chili rating and it was just right for this average palate. This was a repeat visit [of a number] and previous decisions to up... More

We were recommended the place just further down the Yonge street past the Dundas square . Extremely noisy , heavy traffic and very busy means fresh stuff is being served . The level of Chilli is REAL, so take the advice on the menu card seriously . I consider myself a connoisseur of Thai cuisine and had the entire range... More

I go here often to meet friends and it never disappoints me. The food is good , the service is great and the price is right. This is a good choice when you want to grab a quick meal without making a whole day affair out of it.

I love Thai food. There were an overwhelming number of options in downtown Toronto. I read lots of mixed reviews. More were in favour of this spot. I was expecting a fast food type place, similar to Thai Express. We went around 8pm for a late dinner. The place was packed. The five of us were seated within 3 minutes.... More

I have been going to Salad King on Yonge from the time it was located on Gould near Yonge and they had plastic tablecloths on their tables and meals were as cheap as $5. Today they are on Yonge across the street from the new Ryerson University building on the second floor. They offer a good variety of Thai foods... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
