Great Soup!

I just had the soup, and it was very good. Bean with seasonal veggies, and obviously homemade. Yum. Well done. Recommend.

In general the food was average. The service is why I gave an extra star or else it would have been three. The 'famous pad Thai' was okay. But then again, this is not a Thai restaurant. Our server was accommodating for our gluten sensitivities, offering gluten free bread and changing the pad Thai to vegetarian. The chairs were comfortable... More

After two long days getting to and from our Pan Am Games venue and watching the competition in the hot sun, we were happy just to stay in our hotel for happy hour and dinner. Our first night, we each had a complimentary coconut shrimp as part of the happy hour specials. The second night we came in close to... More

My mother, daughter and I ate here as it was conveniently located in the hotel we were staying in. To start my mother ordered the smoked salmon which she said was delicious and it was quite plentiful (2 could have shared it). My daughter and I shared the Artichoke and Asiago Cheese dip which was OK. One side of the... More

We have enjoyed lunch at Portico many times; both in the dining room and the bar. It is a wonderful place to savour a meal without being rushed. The decor is attractive, the atmosphere calm, the staff are refined without being stuffy, the food is very good. For the sheer pleasure of lunching, my wife and I can think of... More

I was staying in the Cambridge Suits and after reading the menu in my room thought I would try the Portico downstairs. The restaurant is cosy and was quite for a Friday night in my opinion. I ordered the Cajun calamari as the started and the pad thai (with added shrimp) as the main. The portion of calamari was huge... More

We stayed at the Cambridge Suites Hotel and ended up picking up some takeout from the lobby restaurant Portico. We order the gnocchi, 8oz striploin, 1/2 chicken and nachos and I have to say everything was delicious. All the food was packaged well and was still hot back in our room. The server even gave us real linen napkins and cutlery... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
