Eclectic Menu; Perfect Patio

I met an old friend for dinner here. it was my first visit to the Queen Mother. The artichoke dip with taro chips appetizer was really tasty. I had the pad thai, and my friend had the crab cakes. The pad thai was perfectly seasoned, and there was just the right balance of chicken, shrimp, and... read more

Brilliant fresh food served fast! Great staff! Forget the crab cakes:( but the lentil soup is the best you'll ever have.

Can be hit and miss. Basically - a good place to come in the summer and sit in the back garden area - you kind of feel you are not in Toronto (the back patio garden area is a great place to hang out). Inside is small. (so in the summer I give the place a 4 - for the... More

Nice place, with cosy atmosphere, good choice of starters and mains. Would not recommend the wine, but definitely go there again for a drink, bite or quick dinner before heading off to the theatre.

You can always count on the Queen Mother as a dependable choice. Sunday brunch is my favourite. It is usually packed with theatre goers. The menu is diverse and is updated every now and then.

I had not been back to the Queen Mother in well over five years and when I found out I had to go to Toronto, my mind already popped here. I invited two friends to join me, though I could have just as easily gone alone because it's the type of place where you can go alone, as a couple... More

The service is average, hostess seemed like she didn't care if we came or not. Then the waiter was friendly. Odd. A Toronto landmark restaurant. Food is a mix of many cultures and influences. I had a good Quinoa salad. I was also told it is a bit of drunk house on Thursday and Friday evenings. Location is great. Good... More

The Queen Mother has been a fixture for decades and for good reason. The crowded, warren-like space is packed for lunch and dinner and serves an eclectic mix of Thai appetizers and mains with some of the best desserts in the city. My standard meal is the Nan Jeun rolls with Ping Gai chicken and something decadent for dessert. I... More

Heard great things and finally ventured in for the first time. Great warm atmosphere, casual yet very trendy. Huge front windows let in lots of light. Both had the mixed grill - done to perfection - healthy portion for $21. Will definitely return!

There are very few Toronto restaurants (let alone trendy/hip cafes) that have been around so long as Queen Mother. I recall an old pal saying that it was her absolute fave going back to the early '80s. We finally ate here for the first time yesterday and enjoyed our meal very much. Wish the portions were larger. Good service. Kudos... More
