Tucked away in the midst of Osgoode Hall is a wonderful restaurant. Despite having to pass through airport-like security and navigate corridors and stairs, the effort is worth it. Well worth it. Food is simple but delicious. There is a range of menu items from straightforward sandwiches to steak frites. The desserts are fresh and light. It is a great... More

We had other business downtown and were invited to join our host at this establishment. Wow! What an eye opener this visit was! From the moment we were greeted at the door to the time we finished our coffees, we simply were overwhelmed by the service and the atmosphere. As were were not paying, we were very careful to order... More

I had the pleasure of bringing my father to this lovely restaurant for his birthday last month. The service at the restaurant was second to none and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff went out of their way to wish my father well for his big day. I would recommend this restaurant to those that are looking... More

As the Osgoode Hall Restaurant is only open M-F for lunch, it is quite a treat for people who generally do not have the opportunity to experience this place. I recently had the privilege of having lunch here for the first time, and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent, and the three-course chef menu ($22.95) comprising of salmon with... More

What a wonderful venue for a delightful lunch. This restaurant is open to the public September through June from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and reservations are recommended. The atmosphere is that of a private club, abundant with lawyers, clients, judges and law books. The menu, which I believe changes daily, is not extensive and the wine selection is limited but... This unique place would be perfect for birthdays or other festive occasions. We ate lunch here last fall and enjoyed it. World-famous lawyers, local movers and shakers...an interesting bunch. The first time that we ate here several years ago, the mayor was enjoying his meal. The historic interior creates an atmosphere unattainable elsewhere. I am done. The end.

Although I have had elegant dinners in this staturesque hall. this was my first luncheon there. I'd heard about their turkey dinner special so i was excited to try it; however, as it was slightly past one, only one portion remained so maybe liking the idea better than the thing itself, i demurred to my husband and ordered the three... The atmosphere is Dickensian, the service attentive, the food always good within a range of limited choices and it has a private club chacacter. Hushed voices, old world charm and it is always interesting to speculate who the other guests are. A great choice as we approach the holiday season.

This little know secret should just stay this way - hidden away in an amazing heritage environment with great light lunches and a wonderful Dickensian environment - I always enjoy it!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
