If you are looking for reliable sushi, fresh and good dollar value this is the place. I lived in Toronto for a period of time and this is by far one of my favourite places to stop in at or grab take out or have delivered. It's almost always fresh (OK, a few times, I wasn't thrilled, but I'd say... More

This area is surrounded by several restaurants, especially Japanese food, but at least this place has good food that you won't regret by randomly picking.

Good service and great sushi! We visited for dinner and the restaurant was hopping. Lots (10+?) of vegetarian sushi options (this is so hard to find!!), priced from around $4-7/roll. Plus, of course, non-vegetarian options as well. The menu is quite extensive, including non-sushi dishes as well. My husband (who is a non-vegetarian) and I tried several different sushi rolls,... This was a really disappointing meal. The food wasn't fresh -- the salmon maki was actually inedible because it was sooo chewy. The atmosphere is chaotic and the service is luke-warm. There are lots of good sushi places in town, in fact, Sushi on Bloor is just a few doors down and is MUCH better and cheaper too.

I came here with my boyfriend this past weekend after hearing about this restaurant through various social media outlets. We opted for the all-you-can eat and it was the worst sushi either of us have ever had in our lives. We started with salads, soup, chicken teriyaki, and short ribs - the dressing on the salad was creamy and tasted... More

I often order grilled squid as an appetizer and the dish that was brought to my table was very clearly rancid and off. Either it was the squid or it was the sauce, but there is no doubt that it was rotten. The floor manager denied that my dish was bad although he later admitted that he had not tasted... More

I absolutely love this place. It is small, busy and absolutely delicious. No it is not the most romantic place you will go to but the sushi is amazing. They even have brown rice sushi and will often give away green tea ice cream after a meal. The service is quick so if you are planning on having a leisurely... More

Amazing service - Great Food, and a great variety. Since I don't eat fish I thought I would have difficulty trying to find something - But they have lots of options - large variety for Vegetarians. Their Ume box has a nice variety(rice, dumplings, tempura, teriyaki - beef, pork, chicken or salmon and some sushi all for 10$)

We ordered a sushi platter, chicken and beef teriyakis, beef tepanaki , edamame and unagi hand rolls. Food was what you expect for a budget eatery. Ice cream was included in our meal. Two of us asked for reduced salt and they did reduce it. The service was excellent, fast, and efficient.

new gen is a staple and an instituion along bloor st for being the go-to eatery for budget conscious students and ppl wanting to beat hunger - food isn't great by any means, soy sauce is too salty (probably didn't mix in mirin and other things to balance out saltiness) and sushi not the greatest (terribly cut), BUT if you...
