Nami was my first exposure to sushi in 1986, and it doesn't look much different now. We had a delicious Summerlicious dinner with some extras. The kaoriage (whitefish wrapped in shiso and deep fried) was amazing, as was the Nasudengaku (sweet eggplant), beef sashimi, and all of our sushi and sashimi. Also the sushi springroll, like a thinly wrapped rainbow... More

A bunch of us wanted to try this restaurant, which is rated as Toronto's 6th best sushi restaurant according to Taste Toronto. The service was fantastic! The waitresses all wear kimonos, which gave a more authentic ambiance. Our waitress always had a smile on her face and was very friendly -- that's very rare in Toronto. We all ordered from... More

I have always enjoyed Japanese food. During my visit to Toronto last June, I had that cravings for Japanese cuisine and the concierge at Omni where I stayed highly recommended Nami. Food there was indeed Awesome! Their Uni melts in your mouth. Their dessert which is made of Green Tea Ice Cream was so unforgettable. Will eat there again in... More

This is an old school Japanese place with great décor and impeccable service. The sushi was fine, but nothing to get crazy about. Clearly it was fresh and cleanly prepared. The grill is pretty cool with the cook to order option. One knock is the restaurant is very slow, we were there for 3 hours or something on a business... More

My colleague and I were simply walking from one appointment to the next hoping to find a great lunch location. We did at Nami. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere nice and clean and the staff and service terrific.

Wonderful fresh well presented. Not overly in decorations but food is well done and presented. Selection is better for couples

Often we crave a comfort experience, where the staff are understatedly gracious and the sushi chef anticipates our preference, and in the order we enjoy. No, this is not your mother serving sushi. However, it is as close as you can get to that. The fish is perennially fresh, replenished almost daily. The robata bar has superb fish offerings, although... More

A colleague treated me to dinner here. It was during Winterlicious, and it was busy! The service and food were both of very high quality. I loved the decor. Everything was very clean, and it was obvious that this establishment is very well run. The beef sashimi was outstanding. I will absolutely dine here again and would highly recommend it.... More

Used to be very good. But has gone downhill. At one time the food was very good. There are so many other better places in Toronto for sushi

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
