Best Malaysian food I've eaten with great service

I had dinner at Matahari a week ago as part of the Toronto Winterlicious restaurant promotion. Matahari won some points from me before I even got there, as I was having problems finding a Winterlicious menu with three courses I could eat. (I'm pescatarian - vegetarian and fish- but don't eat... read more

We are from Kuala Lumpur and we missed food from home, having been in Canada for nine months. We had curry laksa, Hokkien noodles and char kuey teow. Oh no please, please don't call these malaysian cuisine.....

I visited Matahari due to a review from a friend. The 3 generations of my family ate here, and we loved it! The owner was extremely helpful in the ordering process and taking care of my brother's nut allergy and our vegetarianism. After we ordered all our food and ate it, we got seconds, and then thirds. I'm excited to try... More

This was my second visit to this wonderful Malaysian spot downtown. I had the seafood curry which was perfectly flavored and spicy. My 3 guests also had wonderful meals. The servings are generous and the price just right. Will definitely recommend and return.

Had dinner here. Food portions were plentiful and quality ranged from ok to good. Decor was nice. But only one server working who seemed utterly uninterested in the diners. And they were out of a lot of things on the menu. Not a bad experience but no rush to go back.

We just happen to come cross this restaurant as we were cutting thorough some streets to meet some friends and realized that we had never tried Malaysian food in Toronto before. I have tried a few Malaysian restaurants in the US but never in Canada. Matahari is absolutely wonderful and out waitress was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She helped us... More

We ordered beef rendang and curry laksa entrees and finished off with a pandan pancake dessert. The beef rendang was tender and tasted authentic, I recommend this dish and would get this dish if I visit this restaurant again. Keep in mind that the rendang does not come with a side, we ordered the coconut rice and roti to go... More

Smack dab in the middle of Baldwin Street Village and terrific food as well. Beautiful day so we decided to have lunch al fresco. This street has numerous restaurants, a variety of cuisines and varying quality. This one is a pleasant surprise! The decor is quite sophisticated and modern, white linen tables cloths etc., but we chose the patio for... More

This is one of the best Toronto restaurants I have eaten at in a long time. The most amazing peanut sauce ! The boneless short ribs with roti are wonderful and the noodles are equally as good ! I would definitely recommend you try this if you like a combination of Indian and Thai food flavours !!

This resto had been highly recommended to me by many friends for many years. I recently had an opportunity to see what all the fuss was about (and went in with high expectations) Upon entering the decor was nice - nothing extravagant but well taken care of. We ordered drinks - my friend ordered the lemongrass infused vodka caesar and... More
