Le Papillon on Front is located in the heart of Old Town Toronto. Inside of a beautiful Old Town Toronto building with exposed brick walls and high lofty ceilings sits the beautiful venue for Le Papillon on Front. It's exposed brick is complemented well by the aged hardwood floor and perfectly soft lighting. The venue suggests a lovely mix of romance, comfort, and of course, the classic French bistro atmosphere that has followed Le Papillon to all of its locations. In the warmer months Le Papillon on Front even creeps its way onto Front street, giving a beautiful view of the Flatiron building as well as the CN tower in the distance. With a closed in patio adorned with wonderfully arranged planters you experience a private feel, even while sitting on the heart of Front Street.

The Food was Great

We had a lovely dinner, thanks to the attentive and affable wait staff and great food. This time I had the a Trio de terrine Maison to start. The pates were ample and delicious. For my main course, I had the Galette Ratatouille. The crepe was light and the filling perfectly spiced: it was... read more

A regular visitor to this bistro in downtown Toronto. My recent meal started out on the wrong foot when I felt my meal had grown cold before being delivered to my table. When I mentioned it the waitress she was apologetic and quickly had my meal redone. I wrote and email to the restaurant mentioning my experience. I quickly heard... More

Let us not get confused. This is not a fine dining experience but for what it is, a before theatre or tourist spot on a tourist strip, it is just fine. French onion soup very good. Dessert crepe with strawberries, dry and disappointing. Scallop appetizer good. Main courses adequate. It is a large restaurant with good quick service.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your visit with us at Le Papillon on Front. I assure you, aside from your enjoyment of the French Onion Soup and service, this is not up to the level of quality we have come to expect here. I would very much like to know if you informed your server about the issues?... More

I bought the travelzoo voucher for the restaurant, thought it would be a good way to try a new place. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were very nice as well, even though we were using a voucher. The martini's were yummy, the appetizer was ok and presented nicely. I was actually quite upset about my main course.... More

The level of service was superb! Our server Kristen was attentive to our every need. She made our selection of wine a delight. The french onion soup was spectacular... spectacular! Kristen was able to time the delivery of each course so that our conversation was never disturbed! BRAVO! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again and... More

Their twists in the French and Canadienne cuisines are quite asserted. Worth the try and the money. A block from St. Lawrence's Market, makes it a mandatory spot to revisit.

I have been to Le Papillon on the park numerous times but was in the neighbourhood for some shopping over the holiday and thought why not try this location. The service at the front street location is so much better.. The food, french onion soup & Croque-Monsieur should be perfect….Which they almost where….Pretty darn close. On a cold winters day... We enjoyed a lovely dinner after a show at the St Lawrence Centre. While the food was good (as expected), what set the evening apart was the service. Our server, Sam, managed to be the epitome of that rarest combination: completely unobtrusive and also just the right amount of attentive. We appreciated the unexpected price reduction on my husband's steak....it... More

I love this restaurant - far and away one of my favourites. I love the atmosphere (and old renovated building), and the crepes...well, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I have not tasted crepes like these since my days in Quebec. They also have other offerings that look delicious, but I always end up getting a crepe... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
