Regally treated walk-in

Prior to arriving in Toronto, we'd never heard of Joso's. The restaurant's reputation has yet to reach Estonia and Finland. Despite the instinct, acquired from managing restaurants for 25 years, whispering 'no way will we get a table', we took the chance of walking-in without a reservation on a Friday night (17 July) at about 20.00 hours. We were advised... More

Mussels in very tasty white wine and garlic to start followed by the fresh catch of the day grilled to perfection. Joso has always been a go to place for fish done just right. Reservations are essential and parking can be a chore but it is well worth it.

We are here after a long gap. Sure the decor is a little crazy but I actually found it in keeping and fun. All that said the food us excellent - particularly if you go for fish plainly grilled. We had a great evening as a family, the place was busy and the service good. Not much more to say... More

The food was absolutely amazing. For a salad I had the tomato buffalo mozzarella (good but nothing special), the table split the fried calamari (reminded me of what you would eat on the coast in Croatia) and for my main I had the shrimp marinara. Zero complaints about the food. The waitresses were very sassy. No one asked us if... More

This is a charming restaurant two levels in an old brownstone townhouse. Cozy and full of "bodacious bric brac and ornaments" Dalmation style seafood. Love the ink squid and daily seafood grilled. Never disappointed.

This amazing gem of a restaurant is one of the best finds in the city of Toronto. Filled with art, spirit and heart, the experience of dining is taken to the next level. The fish selections are out of this world and their calamari is the simply the VERY BEST! Great tunes, great vive, sexy atmosphere--loved every moment of my... More

A friend and I ate had lunch here on a weekday. It was crowded so we were glad to have made reservations. The servers were very attentive and the food was amazing. Particularly the seafood pasta which was ample portion and tasty. Will definitely come here again as was so full could not possibly have ordered dessert. They brought out... More

This is like an aladdin's cave in honour of the female form. Great decor across every inch. It may not be too everyone's taste, but was to mine. Great background music also accompanied one of the best seafood meals I have ever had. I had Joso's calamari as a main with an assortment of starters (the sardines were superbly fresh).... More

You might like or dislike the focus on the woman body on the decor and even the short dress of some of the young waitresses, but the food we were served was quite good. The appetizers (sardine, insalata di mare, seafood soup) excellent, the grilled branzino superb, the spaghettini very good, the risotto pescatore very tasty but overcooked. Wine expensive,... More

Fantastic seafood restaurant, from the Adriatic coast of Italy. The menu is not huge but everything on it is super delicious. We ordered the fish soup, smoked fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp with garlic and risotto. Each of the seafood dishes were awesome. Risotto was good but I would skip it next time (it feeds about 4 people). The decor/taste... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
