Great Homefries

Went on a weekend for brunch. Lineup was pretty long. Enjoyed the food & service. Probably the best homefries around. I'm not sure what the sauce is, but its amazing. Would go back if in the area.

I am a big foodie and always looking for brunch places - reading the reviews I decided to drive from Oakville to try Insomnia and----- Cold latte Eggs florentine tasted odd , hollandiase sauce had no flavour Worst pancakes I have ever had - baked in the oven - very gummy and not cooked through - with no taste at... A friend and I had lunch here today and generally the food and drinks were excellent. Our main disappointment was the Caesar Salad which could best be described as boring perhaps even tasteless. Our sandwiches were great, a burger and a dark chicken, and the sweet potato fries were really great. I loved my beer but I thought the wine,... More

Stopped here based on the reccomendations of a local and we were so pleased. I had the oven baked pancakes (yum!) and my boyfriend had the omelette of the day. Food was delicious, service was great, and the atmosphere was awesome. Once our bartender heard we were visiting from the states she even have us mimosas on the house. I... More

Went here for the first time for summerlicious and for $25 left satisfied and full. Started with the pulled pork taco which was fabulous, main was there house special fried chicken and waffles, tad to spicy for me, and I found some of the chicken pieces really fatty. Waffle was soggy but I still enjoyed the meal. To cap it... More

The joy of Winterlicious is getting to try different restaurants that you typically wouldn't go to because you get a sampler of their menu for a decent price. Insomnia's menu was enticing but leaves you unsatisfied. Maybe that's why it's called Insomnia - keeps you up wondering why you went there in the first place. I had the Lentil Mushroom... More

I came here with 2 friends for brunch. I guess our wait time was cut down because we opted for the bar which was almost empty. It was good, we sat comfortably for a couple hours, caught up and had some brunch. I had the St. Alban's - a classic eggs Benny with peameal bacon. The egg was poached perfectly.... More

Young crowd, young servers. Huge order of poutine which my husband enjoyed. Bloody Caesar was good. I just had eggs, toast and bacon because all other items looked like very large portions. We went on a weekday for brunch just before 1pm and immediately able to sit at a table.

A little bit of waiting but not that much and they can send you a text when your table is ready, staff is friendly and efficient. The meal was great, Eggs Benedict with some homemade potatoes, so damn good! I like the atmosphere, it is a nice place to stay for Sunday brunch!

Six of us came here Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. My initial thoughts were - 'how come I've never heard of this place' its cute, in a great location and the menu looked fantastic. The service was friendly (a whisper slow, but not painstakingly so) and the atmosphere was hopping. A very busy place (who takes reservations!). I had... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
