Simple but acceptable

We had dinner with six people. This is a simple restaurant with friendly service and reasonable prices. The food is not great, but acceptable. The interior could use a little more light.

Three of us needed a lunch spot one July afternoon in the Yorkville area, so Hemingways it was. Service was swift, food up to par and the ground level patio is great for people watching. Anywhere in the area it will be pricey, so it's hard to complain in that respect. I will definitively not hesitate to return if I'm... More

Wonderful spot for lunch with good food at very reasonable prices for a Yorkville venue. Be sure to sit on the rooftop patio weather permitting. Servers are alays friendly and efficient.

We used to go to hemingways a lot when we lived in Toronto 20 years ago. I am pleased to say it has hardly changed - that is good because what you get is a great atmosphere, good basic food, great drinks and good service. Now compared to other yorkville options it is not that fancy so you need to... More

We had our summer lunch for the company staff. Service was very efficient and quick drinks and food service. Everyone seemed to enjoy their choices except one person who thought chicken was dry. Desserts were cleaned off the plates.

Had lunch on the roof top patio of this restaurant. Great location, lots of shade with just the right amount of airflow to keep it cool. Lunch menu had quite a few different choices to suit many interests. We had the salmon salad and Kiwi lamb burger. Both dishes were very good. Good value for the money. Service was prompt... More

Casual and friendly Yorkville destination, American food at good prices, also has a great roof terrace for warm summer evening, one of my favourite spots in Yorkville to hang, without taking out a mortgage to pay!

The worst place ever! The waitress was rude and just wanted to go home! Came here after 10pm for late night food and drinks, and the waitress tossed the drinks and it was too messy... Terrible and horrible experience, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Nice spot for a drink in trendy Yorkville, but the food is rather ordinary. Prices are reasonable and the service was good. But the bits of chicken and sausage in my jambalaya were overcooked, even a little tough. My companions said their meals were good, but they couldn't muster up any real enthusiasm.

This is my new go to place when in the Yorkville area. Casual, lovely roof top patio, Good pub food. No pretentious attitude here. Mr. Hemingway would have loved this gem.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
