Casual dinner after busy work

This bar/ restaurant is closed to my office. I went here with my colleague. There are 2 floors, not crowded. I ordered a chicken wrap and chowder soup, and go with red wine. The portion is large, the taste is good. My colleague had ribs with sweet potato fries, large portion again, the sweet... read more

We live in the area and frequent Hemingway's at least once a week. The owner is from New Zealand and they celebrate anything New Zealand. We stop in for a drink in the late afternoon or Saturday or Sunday lunch. The menu is mostly pub food but they always have specials. The Sunday lunch is usually a roast with root... More

I have always enjoyed my visits to Hemmingway’s and have not only rated this place excellent but have recommended it to a lot of people, but believe and understand the negative reviews this restaurant has gotten here! On a recent visit here I found the staff seemed more interested in socializing with each other than serving patrons. On my last... More

Stopped in with some friends while wandering Yorkville. The bar area is comfortable and it was packed with people drinking and having a good time. The service was excellent, although our friends ordered potato skins and sweet potato fries, both were not very good. It's an ok local hang out spot to have a bevvie and chat with friends.

First time to Hemmy's after a few years. Went for dinner & drinks after work on a Friday night. Was a bit of a trip to find our party as there are a number of patios. The service was very slow. We wanted dinner, but it took a while for the server to understand that we wanted food not just... More

Hemming ways has been here for as long as I can remember and is always a pleasant place for a reasonable meal and good selection of liquor. The patio is also pleasant in summer. There's a reason it's been around this long. The decor however could use some refreshing.

Yorkville is typically known for posh shops and posh people. Hemingway's is a comfortable, affordable pub right in the heart of the neighborhood. Ambiance is typical pub. Beer selection and food is decent. Simple patio on upper level. My go to place when I'm in the neighborhood and just want to linger somewhere.

It was our first time in Canada and we decided to explore and walk around the city. We came upon this cool place by chance because the restaurant next door did not have any open tables. This place is four levels high including a popular patio. The food was great, I had their turkey burger and local Mill St. Organic... More

Great upstairs patio, which is perfect in the city during the summer. Standard bar food. Nice location in the middle of Yorkville, with lots of things to do in the area. However, service is poor and very slow.

Hemingway's is one of those places that if you grow up in Toronto, you have been to at one point in your life. It is in the middle of Yorkville which is the most expensive and posh area of Toronto, but the bar itself is very low key and casual. It has an amazing and large outdoor (covered) patio in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
