Cozy, friendly and tasty

My husband and I live near here and walk by this restaurant all the time. To be honest, the outdoor appearance is a whisper shaby - there is a giant nose on the outside that has seen better days, so we never really thought about going in...then we heard from lots of friends this place was... read more

My daughter and I just returned from a delicious dinner a Gio Rana. Excellent and professional service from Yankovich and delicious food, prepared to perfection. The sea bass I thought I would enjoy was substituted for sea bream and it was incredible and prepared exactly right. My daughter ordered a medium rare steak perfectly cooked. We shared three sides, asparagus... More

The formula is simple: if you like flavour, you’re not afraid of sharing, and you want an exceptional night out, the Nose is the place for you. I’ve probably been to this place 50+ times over the years and there isn’t a single time I have walked out disappointed. The food is served family-style, so you will get to try... More

I had the lamb shank, it was very bland and the portions were small. I had a few other options on the menu and they were all mediocre at best. Nice place to try ONCE if you're into that whole 'hipster' kinda environment and feel the need to try something trendy. But I would stay away.

I had pretty low expectations but was so very pleasantly surprised. Great good and great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. Many gluten-free options too so bonus for me!

Some of the tastiest food in Toronto can be found at Gio Rana. This find is queen east hip without the pretension. Tables are a bit crowded and the music is a bit loud to comfortably carry on a discussion, however the simple menu an simple wine list is terrific. I wish there were more fish or vegetarian options.

I'll start with the CONS since there aren't many. CONS The music is so damn loud, you can't hear the person beside you. We made a reservation months in advance, and 1 person in our party of 7 had to sit at the end of the table, basically in the aisle way. She kept getting knocked by elbows, food passed... More

Very nice suburban restaurant, which is much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. The tables are a little close to each other. Ambience and service are very good but music was a little bit too loud for my taste. A good selection of Italian food and fish dishes as well as pasta. Wine list is all Italian with... More

so let's just get this out of the way: gio's doesn't have a sign, only a honkin' nose, hanging in front. a bit hipster? totally. but as a one-time resident of leslieville who has tried numerous restaurants in the area, i can tell you that gio's actually backs this up with honest-to-goodness, tasty food. they borrow from different parts of... Good food, but even better service. It is worth going here just for the entertaining waiter, we were made to feel extremely welcome. Do not be put off by the look of the place from the outside, it is really worth stepping through the door, as the ambience is perfect for dinning with friends & family, perhaps not so appropriate...
