Funky, fun place with excellent food.

Tucked away in Leiselville, can't miss it, has a huge red nose on the outside of the building. Very inetersting decor, full of ambience, great fun and friendly waiters, and true super tasting Italian food. All were happy with our choices. Very good wine, waiters schooled well on choices. If you have ever read any of our other reviews we very rarely rate anything under a three because (for us) things have to be pretty bad to do so,however, our experience this time was the worst we've ever had. We went with friends to this restaurant on New Years Eve.It offered a fixed menu and one had to make reservations,so... More

Here is traditional Italian moving up a notch: meatballs, gnocchi, ossobuco, frito misto, involtini (pulled pork wrapped in steak). Several vegetarian dishes. Tasty desserts. What's not to like? Service is good (thanks Damien). The wine list comfortable. Figure $100 a couple with wine and tip. We ate there with family including a wee tyke and I'd come back again. Dinners... More

This restaurant is always a fun experience. It has a great atmosphere although the music makes it a little noisy if it is a romantic dinner. The staff are young, hip and very friendly. The free bread is always fresh and tasty. We loved the rice balls and grilled calamari. Had the pasta in Asiago cream sauce which was wonderful... More

Eating out should be fun. The Italians do it well. In the east end of Toronto there's an Italian restaurant with a big nose sculpture on the wall outside the restaurant, and with staff inside who have big hearts. We've now met friends here twice, and each time the charming staff and interesting Italian dishes on the menu have captivated.... More

Great food. Great service. Great atmophere. Open kitchen with a short, but exquisite menu and a lot to offer. Very happy to have stumbled upon the place with the nose. Amazing.

I just got back from 10 days in Rome, and was wondering how I would react, but am happy to report this survives the Italy comparison test. Italians are said to be very energetic and loud compared to Anglo-types, but the Italians have a long way to go to match the noise level here. It is a bit of an... More

I've always wanted to try "The Nose" and finally, I have. The service was very good. The waiter gets extra points for replacing all silverware after the appetizers. He also suggested a really nice bottle of wine to go with our entrees. I ordered the special, which was flat-iron steak cooked to my liking of medium-rare. It came with mashed... More

Its Italian of course. Savory food at a good price. What more could you want! Try the lamb chops. Very popular locally so plan ahead. Reservations only available for 6 or more.

Gio Rana's is one of our favourite restaurants in the city - tons of character being in an old bank and always bustling with action, the food tastes home cooked in small batches and the service is always personable.. Some nights you can even catch Gio himself checking the reservation book or wandering around the tables. Wines are around $8... More

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
