Fantastic introduction to Peruvian cuisine!

Having literally just arrived in Toronto from Sydney after a 22 hour trip, we were quite famished and exhausted...but our friend (whom grew up in Peru) had insisted we drag ourselves out to this highly recommended restaurant...we were not disappointed at all! Being a complete stranger to Peruvian... read more

Yuck! That's how I want to start. Here we were looking for some well cooked fish, and I ha heard Peruvian preparation of fish is amazing with an interesting blend of spices. Boy did this restaurant disappoint. While the ambiance and service was good, the food was just plain terrible. I don't know if I got them on the wrong... More

What a great place this is! It's a Peruvian restaurant, nicely decorated, comfortable seating, excellent service. We ordered an appetizer trio to share - with breaded and fried calamari, fried plantains and fried cassava -- served with huancaine dip -- one of the best I ever had! The breading was light, none of the fried foods were greasy, the plantains... More

Great service, excellent food, reasonable prices, authentic Peruvian food. I purchased a gift card with the owner on the phone to surprise my brother for his birthday. He went with his wife for his birthday and had a great time there

Do right and eat everything. Excellent food and wine prices. Delicious home cooked Peruvian food. Friendly service, great food and a cozy atmosphere makes this place definitely one I would eat at again.

My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Toronto and the two of us decided to try El Fogon. It had received some good reviews in the past. Our server Kevin turned out to be the highlight of the evening. He was alone serving all the tables in the restaurant and doing a great job. He told us that... More

I had dinner last week with family for a birthday celebration. We were seven and ordered various dishes, all very fresh and tasty. From the ceviche, to beef dishes, to fish, to chicken, we all enjoyed every thing. We also had Sangria, Chichamorrada, wine, which were fine. The service was simple, effective and staff welcoming. A good experience overall- we'll... More

As a Peruvian living in an American city that doesn't have a Peruvian restaurant to travel to a different state or country and find one it is always awesome and creates great expectations and excitements! My husband and I traveled to Toronto Ontario Canada and I found this restaurant which it had great reviews. I ordered a portion of anticuchos... More

This is a great place to try Peruvian food. I ate there with a friend from Peru and he said the tastes were very authentic. The purple corn drink (forgot the name) was very good. Fried yucca with traditional dipping sauce (aji) was great. Ceviche mixto was ok, but not great. The bass ceviche was excellent though. All of the... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
