A unique dining experience

My boyfriend and I went to The Atlantic for my birthday and had the most amazing meal. Chef Nathan made us the most delicious unique food and drinks made with local, ethically sourced ingredients. Guaranteed to be unlike any experience you have ever had at a restaurant, the most liberating aspect of The Atlantic was the lack of any distractions other than the food itself (with the occasional beverage pairing). No front of the house looking over your shoulders, no menus to confuse things, no alcohol to muddy the waters, no prices to ponder.... More

This gem in the city of Toronto is worth every ounce of effort it takes to get here, wait for a table, change plans, convince your friends, etc etc etc. Chef Nathan, winner of the Million Dollar Critic, doesn't believe in menus or prices. You eat what he prepares for you (allowances made for allergies / restrictions) and you pay... More

Very interesting social experiment. The food was quite good, was served a little on the cool side, but very tasty and innovative. Wine was chosen skillfully. Would have liked to have tried the fourth coarse but the way dessert was offered I did not realize it was an option. Overall a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely return on my... More

After seeing Million Dollar Critic, our expectations were quite high. Nathan exceeded them. The chosen menu was unique, full of great flavours and textures. We were treated royally, from the beginning to end. can't wait to return for another culinary adventure

After watching million dollar critic on HGTV I was intrigued to check out The Atlantic. Here’s a restaurant, a business, someone’s livelihood who operates on a cash or barter system! That’s right! It seemed unimaginable. There is no menu, Nathan cooks an incredible 3 course meal + dessert, based on what fresh goodies he has picked up earlier in the... More

We had a very interesting evening at this restaurant. The food selection was left up to the chef, who provided us with a meal that was beautifully presented and was interesting and unusual ...at least for me. And it was fun to not know what you were getting next. The chef and his sous-chef worked incredibly fast to provide our... More

Eleven of us had a terrific meal here last Wednesday. The big group helps I think because this is tapas-style dining and we let the chef simply serve us. And he did a great job. I wish I could remember more of the details -- yes we had crickets... also a wonderful cabbage salad, gnuddi, sardines, catfish, and a terrific... More

A new chef / owner so was expecting something more than what I received. Was not overly impressed with the tasting menu. They did however serve us many more courses than what we were told. Most likely because we were drinking, many bottles of wine. Take the streetcar or walk. Our server said he was a Master Sommelier which was... More

Nathan Isenberg went down market when he opened up his own place. Don't judge this book by its cover. Nathan is a very accomplished chef and can make one swoon with his offerings. He's a master at teasing out flavours out of interesting local produce along with adventurous global flavours. For example, the huitlacoche soup is lick-the-bowl delicious. The patty pan... More
